I just hope he's a stop-gap till we get a 6 in January, not in 2 years' time. He's a step up from Milner though (or at least last season's Milner - no disrespect to the great man), and he can allegedly play right-back. He may be needed there.
I quite like the look of Endo, was a bit like a ghost today but looked good in your last game. I really hope he makes it.
Well on the plus side No one talking about how well we played with 10 As for the discussion about Trent red Don’t think you can separate the two decisions at the start The ref made a clear mistake in not awarding Trent a free kick If he had Trents first yellow just doesn’t happen - he didn’t (even Shearer who really struggled to be impartial when it comes to NUFC - which I get Tbf said it was a nailed on free kick and imho was far more dangerous shoving a player in the back towards the boards) Which means the the ref is free to award the second Yellow Which of course would have been the first or at least should have been daft to say - oh yeah he was already on a yellow from a wrong decision so let’s count that but not the second mistake from those two incidents Trent should have had one yellow That’s exactly what he had so it’s really a storm in a teacup imho
newcastle were gifted a one on one with the keeper from nothing. aside from that they were pretty awful in front of goal. I think it's safe so say we saw a cynical bunch of divers and hackers with little pace and invention.
the question I have on trent's "incidents" if why has nobody actually commented the Gordon flopped down as trents arm barely touched a shoulder and never went near a face etc. they all seem to want to let the flopper away with the usual antics. trent was barged in the back by the same little cheat and that was ignored by the ref at the time neville went mad on commentary accusing the ref of basically bottling it as as per the utd rat wanted a red. the same utd rat wanted the red on vvd and was calling him lazy etc.
I said at the time the actual ‘foul’ by TAA was proper soft. He put an arm out and it made a bit of contact with the guys shoulder. There is no way that contact would make your legs disappear from under you. A bit of like the Szobo pen last week though. There is contact but he’s massively exaggerated it. I also think if you watch Gordon knocks it so far past that Endo actually gets the ball and is so much closer to it that even without TAAs touch on his shoulder, Gordon won’t actually get the ball. I understand why the calls for a yellow but I don’t think was much different to the tomiyasu one last week. A tiny bit of contact but no where near enough to actually cause the player to fall to the ground in the way he did. Gordon was looking for the foul because he either wanted TAA sent off, or he realised he wasn’t going to reach the ball because Endo was there
Howe's Bouremouth never played like this Newastle, feels Trippier's influence on Newcastle. All the dirty little tricks he learnt at Atletico translated onto the Newastle team. Even the tactics are Simeone, solid defence, break up play and hit the opposition hard with a quick ball or fast runner.
I said this yesterday: He didn't seem to realise he'd contradicted himself in the same sentence. The first yellow would not have been given if the foul had been awarded. He might have then picked one up for the second offence. A rare case of two wrongs making a right. Anyone saying Trent deserved to walk is either biased or stupid. He did have a horrendous half-hour though.
