Yeah, his poetry... Drink today, and drown all sorrow; You shall perhaps not do it tomorrow; Best, while you have it, use your breath; There is no drinking after death.
Perraud, Tella, Lyanco, Adams, McCarthy and Tall Paul are the players who I believe were injury free at the weekend, didn’t make the squad Saturday and perhaps form part of this infamous separate training session. Small, Olaigbe & Finnigan are more senior u21s who will be on the way out, as either on loan or sold. Small & Tella confirmed out Perraud & Lyanco to be announced
Would be good to see all but Adams from that list out. As well as Djenepo and Aribo. Maybe also Mara out on loan if another striker can be brought in. That one seems unlikely though
Shame really, championship is Perraud’s level and I think he is better defensively than Manning. But from what we’ve seen so far, Manning can definitely do the job in this league. Some of his passing has been quality. I am yet to be convinced he will be able to step up into the PL but we can worry about that if we get promoted. I believe he is still very much a work in progress as he transitions back from winger to full back, so by the end of the season he could be even better.
If we'd kept Perraud, I also think it would have allowed us to use Manning as cover as the left sided central midfielder when we required. We're only four games in, but I'm already feeling that he could do a job there maybe even better than at LB. We don't really want to sign another CM, because Smallbone, Charles and Downes are excellent options at this level when available. But for the games when we do need a 4th (or 5th option), I'd have been keen for us to try Manning there - even ahead of Stu. That though is probably off the table if Perraud leaves.
A busy week ahead A few more outs, a couple more in and we will be set for an exciting season ahead. Friday 1st is probably when most of it will happen and then hopefully we can all breath a sigh of relief and get behind our new revamped team. Come on SR, Get it right and you will get a big kiss from me. (Not in a Spanish football president kind of way) COYR
Not really, but expect those 3 will leave by the end of the week plus ABK. Possibly not to the clubs I mentioned There will be some incomings as well of course
Leeds agreed a fee for Paintsil. Hopefully he's rubbish. Might free up some funds for Genk to buy Onuachu though.
We agreed earlier a deal of swap for Paintsil and Onuachu at around €8M + €2Million in add ons. Hopefully that deal can be struck again if/when Paintsil leaves. We'd lose just shy of £7Million but we were always going too.
I wonder if that means one of their forward line is off too? Already by far their strongest position I think.
