x2 the difference in standard between the leagues is reflected in the tables: PL: Last years promoted sides: played 7: W0 D0 L7 Champ: Last years relegated sides (excluding us) played 8 W7 D1 L0 We drag that champ record down obviously. Very early days of course. If you want to win games keep moving down divisions until the sides are ****ter than you. Then feel really good about winning..
We still have the problem of 7 loaned out big time Charlie’s who are having bad times at their new clubs. They are still on our books but so far nobody will want to buy them unless their form picks up. We’re going to need Arfur Daley to move these on without bankrupting ourselves
So what’s the perfect season for you guys? 3rd place and a play off final defeat? Rinse and repeat each year? Or relegation with the chance of a promotion season next year in league 1? Can’t complain about a clubs lack of ambition if you don’t have any yourselves
We the perfect season certainly isn’t in a league where you’re lucky to six games a season and can predict heavy defeats in half of them. And people laugh at the Scottish league
Yes Eire we know what isn’t your perfect season. The question was what is your perfect season as you don’t want the PL?
have you forgotten how boring and rotten last two seasons were.Orta assembled a squad of fakes and non triers.
And there is the problem. It wasn’t necessarily the league it was the way our club was run. Our first season back was decent and enjoyable. A well run, much smaller club like Brighton have shown that it's possible to build in that league.
Brighton are not a little club anymore.they have a far superior scouting system than a lot of clubs. They are well run and do not sell on the cheap with plans in place to sign new players as opposed to what rads was like it bears no comparison.
Exactly matey. They were a tiny club but with a few years of being ran well behind the scenes they have become an established force in the best league in the world. Imagine if we were run that well. We'd eclipse what Brighton have done. Saying the PL is **** just isn't true. It was us being **** that made it crap to watch.
But that's exactly my point. Until we're in that position, and we've no idea if 49ers have that kind of ability, then Ive no desire to play in pl again. Winning a game every two or three months with numerous thrashings thrown in, is not my idea of fun. Losing at all to Scum is a disaster to someone of my vintage, but the manner of some of those defeats were appalling. As doc mentioned elsewhere, we still have last seasons cloggers on our books and playing elsewhere. It's going to take time to get over the financial impact of getting rid of all those eventually. Maybe a couple of years in Championship may be required. If so, the blame lies squarely on the former owners and not current ones
The transition from Bielsa to Marsch, the players he wanted to fit his style of play and the keys given to Orta to do these deals destroyed all the hard work. If we had invested money in season 2 prem we would still be there
If at first you don't succeed then give up? I agree regards the financial impact of the players we have out on loan. Its a weight around the clubs neck to the tune of around £50-60 million. Do you know what would help? Promotion this year. That gives us £120 million guaranteed. We get £60 million parachute payments this year. £30 million next year if we don't go up. The quickest way to build, like Brighton, is to get up and use the money correctly. How I read your comment was "don't want to go up in case our owners are **** and we lose". I don't agree with that. You've got to aspire to go up and take it from there. What if the 49ers are decent owners?
but what about the loanees? they could just report back for pre season and we would have to pay them.i think the whole lot of them are bare faced enough just to turn up and be paid including Harrison.A lot of those millions would be wasted paying them off and transfer fees we still owe.rads gambled on a bigger selling price by staying in the prem.he lost and so did the 49ers who now have a ****show to sort out.
