I wanted Nunez to start. Before all of the why questions……..Just because.

Nunez was never klopps choice and is probably 5th choice if not 6th.

Matip isn't up to this game today imo

So let's look forward to seeing this midfield

Based on what exactly? Nunez hasn’t started either of last 2 games… what makes him 6th choice all of a sudden

 

jota starts first 2 games at cf with gakpo over at lm

so that puts salah amd diaz as.1 and 2. jota and gakpo.amd 3 and 4.

the only question is would klopp send on doak first pf numez cos they play different positions. only time will tell.

he is certainly 5th choice to my mind after this start to season and we will see who klopp chosen to put on.

in theory here we could end up with jota lw and gakpo cf and doak rw if klopp chooses or gakpo has a great game at cf

 

Or diaz has played left wing in opening 2 games so Nunez is second choice behind him which is what we expect.

Gakpo played CM as a necessity. Won’t play there when have plenty midfielders available.

 

That's the line up I expected for this game.

 

That’s like saying Joe Gomez is 7th choice behind vvd Konate Matip TAA Robbo tsinikas.

Can’t really be a number choice behind players in totally different positions.

 

I thought Gakpo would start at CF so he can try to pick the ball up in the space between the MF and CB's

I'll bet you if diaz is subbed jota will come on for him.

 

So, Matip replaces the injured Konate and Jota is dropped for Legendo.

Matip is a concern, hopefully Trent is a bit more reserved today (doubt it)

 

Gakpo starting ahead of Nunez. Don't think Darwin will last beyond next summer.
