    The team should be...

    -------------------Krul-------------------
    Simpson----Saylor-----Coloccini-----Raylor
    ------------------Tiote-------------------
    ---------Guthrie----------Cabaye---------
    --HBA-----------------------------Jonas--
    -------------------Ba---------------------

Swap Tiote for Gosling, if the god doesn't make it!

    Krul
    Simpson - Saylor - Colo - Raylor
    Jonas - Guthrie - Cabaye - Ferguson
    HBA
    Ba

Ferguson was quality on the left for us every time he played last season and the more I watch Raylor, the more I feel comfortable with him at LB. He's put in a fantastic shift and made some great blocks/tackles for us already.

Doubt that will ever happen. It appears as though Ferguson will be going out on loan within the next week. If not, he will go out on loan in January.

    Krul
    Simpson Saylor Coloccini Raylor
    Santon Tiote* Cabaye Jonas
    Best** Ba

*Guthrie if Tiote is out like you say but a couple of days ago wasn't it confirmed Tiote will be back for the Man City game? I'm pretty sure I read something like that.
**Ameobi (Shola) if Best doesn't make it. I heard that Ameobi (Shola), Tiote and Cabaye will defiantly be back. Best should be but he may just miss out and Marveaux, Obertan and Williamson will defiantly miss the game.

Couldn't dream of playing Guthrie or Gosling on the right, it will be painful to watch. Obviously Obertan if possible, then either Santon or Benni. Obviously Benni may be needed up top if Best is ****ed. Shola is just a no. I would like to keep as many in out of our first 11 as possible. I'm hopeful on Tiote but Guthrie can fill in and try to continue his turnaround in performance if not.

    So for me:

Obertan out - Santon or Benni in
Best out - Benni up top (so then defo Santon wing)
Tiote out - Cry and then put Guthrie in.

Possible, he played there a few times while in France by all accounts. Big game to throw him into, but the likes of him and Vuckic could bring a fearless approach that you get with young players.

He's definitely worth consideration, every RW option available to us has a problem.

Benny on the wing, its where he's played almost his entire career, and he's been tracking back deep into our own half when playing up front, so I don't know why everyone's assuming he wouldn't do the same if on the wing? Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who ever watched him play at Marseille (I know I'm not -- but with the way people say he's 'not a winger'..)

Why argue the case so much when Pardew isnt going play him there? He can be a centre half if he likes but he isnt playing there either.

Santon on the wing ffs he played there for Inter Milan at one point so he's good enough to play there for us.

I understand talking tactics and players position, but i really don't understand the logic in some line-ups i have seen.

Raylor is not going to be moved from the LB spot, even if there is an injury crisis. We have a settled back 5 so Pardew isn't going to break that up.
Pardew has already said he is not going to play Arfa on the wings. I don't agree with it but he has said it so I don't understand why people are putting Arfa right wing.
If Best doesn't start then Arfa will hopefully play in the whole. But a certain Shola is "fit" this weekend, I can see a crazy Pardew decision...
I also like the idea of Santon as RM. Defensively good cover for Simpson and has pace and HAS played there before. Go do some research before you say he can't play there.

Precisely, Ben Arfa is not considered as an option on the wing by the coaching staff so we can rule that one out. The team will almost certainly by this:

    Krul
    Simpson Saylor Colo Raylor
    Jonas Cabaye Guthrie Sameobi
    HBA
    Ba

Unless Best is passed fit then he will certainly start in place of HBA.

I would hope it's the other way around, we have plenty of strikers but are struggling for another RW.

I dont think it's been mentioned yet but Lovenkrands has played RW for us...

I'm not sure the coaching staff have dismissed the idea of Ben Arfa playing wide. Pardew certainly has him down as a "in the hole" player but if needs must I still think they'd use him out wide. Its obvious to me that Pardew is concerned about using Ben Arfa tomorrow (even if Benni isn't). I don't think he'd be against using him there if was our best option at the time. I think all Pardew was driving at is that when everyone is fit he sees a different role for Benni to what he had at other times in his career. He spent most of his time in france when I saw him playing wide right for Marseille and wide left for Lyon. He's our best option but I'm worried that Pardew has seen something to worry about with Benni. If there is any doubt mentally, I'd play Santon there as its just not worth it after waiting this long for Benni to come back.

Thinking about it, I reckon Sammy will start on the right, Best will fail a fitness test then Pardew will make a late call on Shola or Ben Arfa to partner Ba up front.
