Thought everyone did well in spells, with the exception of Drameh, who just doesn’t seem capable for us. Can’t see a future for him at Leeds, and I’d be happy to let him go if we could get a couple of million for him (with a healthy sell on clause-in case he comes good elsewhere). Thought Shacks did really well as his replacement and was disappointed that Byram picked up his injury. Think he’s done really well since returning to the club. Elsewhere thought Sini and Gnonto looked short of match sharpness but glad they both scored, and along with goals for Piroe and Rutter confidence across the front 4 should increase. With Bam/Dan and Cry to come back we really should have healthy competition for the front spots. Defensively we are still a work in progress, but Ampadu and Gray have the making of good midfield cover for a back line who need to wise up. Think Mes has shown better form of late. Not perfect, but improving. None of us can be certain of whether he commands his box sufficiently. But we certainly need to tighten up - but we are only 5 games into a season, with more than half a new team. Let’s enjoy the ride.
Was a cracker. Was mainly to help Mrs Eire celebrate her 60th. Had our entire clan there including the grandsons. Just enjoying the footie wins whenever they come
Oh feck no, he’d fail it if he actually had to sit it, 9 GCSEs better off than he should be that boy thanks to Covid. The teachers saw their chance and took it To be fair, he deserved the other one because dad is a master chef
All about opinions. Him & Rodon were congratulated for being solid all match through on R5Live. Can't comment, didn't see the match, but if you want to know about Harrogate Town v Morcambe in L2, I'm your man to bore the tits off you (as I still don't know any of their names, hence report will be along the lines of 'big fukker with the pony tail', 'wee barra on the right', big fukkin hulk at the back' sorta thing). I think tbf, that Struijk has got his mojo back. Even carries the ball out now, which I can't ever remember him being trusted to do (as a CB).
yes perfectly weighted. Class finish as well. 3 we’ll-taken goals tbf… even the Gnonto one is a difficult blind side finish of a high bouncing cross. And Piroe’s was good poaching… in position to pick up a parry.
Agree on the 2nd goal. Drameh's mistake but Meslier compounded it by not leaving Rodon to deal with it. Open goal missed by brother Emu as well just to prove none of us are perfect
I didn't see the match, so can't really comment on Drameh, but what I can remember - and shudder doing so - was thinking back to Ayling playing LB. He's never played there again. Thankfully. Some players can adapt, others are specialised & very focussed on their position. Ayling is a RB, less than average CB, & shiite LB. Perhaps Drameh is cut from the same cloth & can only play RWB for the same reasons. I get it. They have a choice - be an average utility man, or a good specialist. Don't be so hard on Drameh, we might benefit from this one way or the other.
Totally agree WJ. However it was a bit of a car crash for the lad today so we have to report that back to the forum. Cresswell also made an error which cost us a goal playing in an unfamiliar posiiton.
Shackleton's composure was outstanding which is probably down to him being a very experienced player for one still quite young. Think he will have moved massively up Farke's pecking order after today.
Great result today, the squad is nowhere near as up to speed as it's going to be but already looking better than it has for a long time. We have all complained for long enough that we don't score but now, if we keep them we have options. I didn't think our CB's did a bad job myself, on 99 other occasions Rodon's clearance would end up on row Z and early days yet but Struijk appears to be getting his game back. I think teams are exploiting our full backs as the weakness they are and whilst we were overrun in midfield at times today both FB positions have been where the weakness is most obvious. Hopefully those issues get resolved this week because for me it's difficult to see how we can play those four in attack when (Piroe aside) the others didn't appear to me to do a great deal helping those FB's out. We're the scalp in this league and as the season goes on, if we carry on doing well teams are going to sit back and look to hit those FB's even more. Farke is doing great, recruitment has been good and if they get the final pieces of the jigsaw sorted this week we need fear no other team.
Last week I suggested that the compromise to the Gnonto situation was for him to be sold in January. Not so sure of that now, if Gnonto has any brains, given that so far this season, he has scored more goals than the whole Everton team together. If he's going to score goals like that regularly, give him a new 5yr contract, double his wages, leave out the loan clause, & up his release clause to £100m. Sorted!
