I've just realised Fraser's first start for us could well be at Sunderland. He'll be up for that one.
Bit gutted but not disheartened after that. Given what Ainsworth has at his disposal that’s about as well as we could have done and it was never going to be quite enough without a senior striker, though the one we do have rarely scores anyway. We created enough chances and limited you to not many despite having the ball but we’ve got nothing at the top of the pitch. Begovic ****ed it for the first goal but down the other end without the best view I expected Bazunu to keep out the equaliser. The third goal was probably the one bit of real class in the game. Thought the guy on the left with the silly hair was good. Manning was a very lucky boy to get away with a yellow for the elbow first half and he got roasted a few times by Smyth who is a L1 player. Don’t get me started on the ref. A newbie who wanted as easy a day as possible. Fun day anyway.
Thought the centre-halves did quite a good job on him once the ref made it clear they could do what they wanted. He’s very raw but he’ll be a player and needs someone with him but we have literally no one. The shoulder barge in the first half was great but naturally it was given as a foul.
He has a bad case of the flops for such a massive guy. Needs a walking frame. Ref just worked him out.
Mate if you insist on being clueless that’s fine. He was in in the first half when the defender slipped and the referee couldn’t have seen anything with his angle and gave a foul anyway.
Great game today! Amongst all the noise all that matters is 3 points and Martin is such a likeable manager. Fraser looks a great signing. He is unfashionable for sure but vastly underrated here, he has consistently performed better than Tella in the PL who was frankly dreadful during the 21-22 season. Also not sure why the mad love for Alcaraz. He had a few decent games last year but has looked poor in each of his appearances this year so far. Hope for his sake he turns it around as Smallbone, Charles, Armstrong and Armstrong have all looked pretty damn good so far in the middle.
Just got home. Relieved to see our first home win since March! We were slow in the build up and lacked a cutting edge however there were positives: Fraser made a big impact coming on, Armstrong took his goal well and Bazunu was man of the match. Winning today despite all the changes shows growth too.
Dunno what game you were watching If it wasn’t for the ref you’d have lost by more IMO. He was giving us yellows for everything and letting you foul and time waste as much as possible. I think you might be in trouble tbh, thought you were shocking today
Here, give this a go. Tomorrow night in Southampton. Give 'em a call and they'll put you on the bill. Five minute slot. I'll be the guy in the second row in the bright shirt - say hello.
You got one for an elbow, one for a deliberate foul breaking up a counter, one for waving an imaginary yellow and one late on for kicking the ball away so not sure which you’d dispute. We are shocking. Half our team don’t get in many if any other teams in this league. I’m sure with the players you have you’ll inevitably be top six if not top two but most teams in this league put far more chances away than we ever will.
You’ll notice that Os didn’t seem to dispute the yellows we got. More point out that your lots should have got more than they did
I thought Smyth could have got one first half so I’ll give you that. No idea what else could have warranted one.
Loads of niggly ones. He was very lenient on you IMO. You resorted to kicking our young wingers because they burned past you easily in the first half. Tbh now that the games over I can relax about it and say it was good experience for our youngsters. It was men against boys just before & after half time, but they got through it well. It was a baptism of fire for a few of our players I think. They aren’t really used to the rough stuff as the premier league is so watered down.
Tough game today, thought we were very flat first half, no energy. Thought we were a different team when Armstrong dropped into the 10 instead of Charly, who again was pretty invisible which is a bit of a worry moving forward. Don’t know if this style really suits him but I thought it would. Hopefully in time he will get there as very young. Great to see a victory at home though
