Machada on loan from Man United.....hes not getting played there, so why not send him to us to get some experience
Yes i posted that yonks ago on another thread. Joyce owes us one so he maybe able to pull some strings. ALSO, Getting Brady for the season has to another priority and if Waggy and Oj do leave in Jan then 2 strikers minimum. i shall stick with Nicky Maynard and Billy Sharp. Lets see how loose Papa Allams purse will be eh ? With the long term injured all due back by december i dont think we need much more of anything. The squad is about right. NB IS A LUCKY BOY TO TAKE OVER A QUALITY SQUAD LIKE THIS ONE IS. If Uddersfield are tempted to sell Rhodes then he will go PL for sure. Hooper has issues of pitch with Celtic and maybe Adkins @ Saints will want him ? Hoops is a southerner afterall.
FFS the Dele bashers are out in force again You all said he was a joke signing before he got a chance, I said you'd turn out to be wrong, you did turn out to be wrong and before we even play another game he's become a joke again. What does the guy have to do to please you lot? People are obsessed with his pace based solely on his age, but it's not like Fryatt is any quicker and yet he escapes all criticism even though he's the one missing chances left, right and centre. As for who we should buy, a striker who can hit the target would be nice as the current ones are missing far too often, and Brady on a permanent; the rest of the squad takes care of itself with players coming back from injury etc.
My only criticism of Adebola was that he's too slow which is obvious. I think he's effective as an impact player for the last 20mins if we need a plan B, but that doesn't mean a younger Dele with pace wouldn't be much more useful to us.
I am really impressed wth these suggestions to the point of saying you should all apply to be Nick Barmbys assistant, or is it too late?
Sorry, but Dele should never start. It's not just his legs, the pace has gone between his ears. The ball drops off him, and he stands staring at it for a good couple of seconds before - more often than not, stumbling to the ground !?! 20 minutes max if Plan A and B aren't working. And I'd really like to be reminded just how he has proved many wrong about sigining him originally ??...
The last few games where he came off the bench 3 times in a row and completely turned the game on it's head leading to us winning against Watford and Forest, he also made a huge difference at Barnsley and if it wasn't for missed chances by the other strikers we would have won that too. He earned himself a start against West Ham and everyone said he'd done well after the game, which was indeed the case. Unfortunately some fans just make opinions up before they've seen anything, Adebola was a disaster in many fans' eyes before the season started and it's mainly based on his age, which they assume must make him slow and unfit. He's shown nothing to suggest he can only last 45 minutes or whatever but some fans want to say it anyway. I'm not actually any more a fan of Adebola than anyone else, I just think that every City player deserves a chance to impress instead of all the fans insisting he's awful before they even see him play, it becomes even more ridiculous though that people criticise him even after he's played 4 games and done as well as anyone else in that time. It pretty much proves he can't win, these fans just don't want to admit they were wrong initially I guess.
4 games !? He hasn't played a full match. I agree that he changed the game at Forest - after Plan A wasn't working. I don't understand how a club hoping to mount a realistic promotion/play offs bid can start with a player of his current ability in the first 11. It has nothing to do with age - as Deano showed during our last promotion push. He is not fit, quick, or good enough to start - if we are at all serious. I have no problem with him coming on for 20 minutes, he can not last any longer ! He was ****ed before half time against West Ham, and really should've been replaced alot earlier. Although I agree he did well for the first 20 minutes - he is (and has proved) to be more effective coming on late when everyone else has already being playing for 70+ minutes.
Why does Joyce owe us a favour? Additionally - you are aware that Leicester had a £4m bid rejected for Maynard in the Summer
This. He has had an impact on some recent games and good luck to him, but if we're seriously contemplating promotion, we need better strikers than those we've got at the club now.
It was a tongue in cheek comment re.Joyce. But if he can help i am sure that he will do for sure. As for Maynard that was in the summer. Anyone can talk to Maynard in Jan as he enters his final 6 months of his Bristol deal. Maybe Wigley may have some pull with regards to Maynard. But i would also test the waters on Billy Sharp first. That lad would fill his boots with the chances that City are creating at present.
Despite the inordinate amount of puns and jokes that will follow, I'd go in for James Brown at Hartlepool. Madine cost the wendies 800k, so I expect we would have to shell out at least double that to sign him. With Sheffield United's recentley revealed finacial troubles, might be worth a cheeky bid for Matthew Lowton and Ched Evans....
