This is the first game where the consensus is that it should be a straightforward win. It is therefore written in the holy scriptures that we will lose. We can only blame ourselves for being too confident.
Right, I want a win. Not only that, a comfortable win and not a winner in the last few minutes. We are well overdue giving someone a thumping and I am sticking my neck out on a 4-0 saints win. I would say this is a battle of the Armstrongs with Stu, Adam and the excellent Sinclair but I think the QPR Armstrong is injured. A home thumping please would make the journey home a pleasant one for the first time in ages.
I for one empathise with our QPR chums - after all, we`ve both suffered the mis-management of that fraud `arry. My first season living in Soton was 75-76 - we won the cup, and QPR should`ve won the First Division - what an entertaining QPR side that was!
It would be just what my doctor ordered. I need the lack of excitement and feeling of satisfaction that a comprehensive win would bring.
Interesting on Kamaldeen... - Midfielder Will Smallbone won't recover from injury in time to feature in Saturday's clash against QPR at St Mary's, manager Russell Martin has confirmed. The 23-year-old limped out of Saints' 4-4 draw with Norwich after 87 minutes, subsequently missing last week's victory over Plymouth. Remaining unavailable to take on the Hoops, Martin updated on Smallbone's fitness. "He won’t be fit tomorrow, but he’ll be here and he’ll be ready for Sunderland." Asked about the fitness of Kamaldeen Sulemana who returned to first team training in midweek, the Saints boss also provided some positive news. "I'm really excited to try and get him back on the pitch as quick as possible. We only saw him for literally two training sessions and he got injured - in one of them I nearly fell over when he was dribbling he was that quick - he’s an exciting talent. "He’s not in the squad for tomorrow, but hopefully by next we’ll have him in the squad for the Sunderland game, that’s the plan all being well.”
We have such a good team for this league, particularly with our wide and central midfield players. I presume Che is playing tomorrow as we really do need that last piece of the puzzle up front to be a great team. Adarma is great playing like last week but he is not the focal point of a one man attack.
Bit early for flowers, donations to the Oude Sluis Leidschendam please, to take care of my pre and post match medication.
