Yeah if Adams does go we will likely sign somebody. He may be as good as Adams/worse/better like Piroe may have been as good/worse/better That we allegedly didn’t even bid for Piroe may be that Martin having worked with him doesn’t rate him that highly now he’s seen what he has to work with here/targets we may have elsewhere
I think the last couple of transfer windows have emotionally scarred everyone. We all have Post Transfer Stress Disorder and it is making us very clingy
It’s very similar to the people who would call for signing of a 20 goal striker in the premier league (for lots of clubs not just ours) without looking at who is actually on the list of strikers who get to that tally
With saying that, the fans have largely been better judges of incoming players than our actual scouts in recent years… E.g. Lyanco turned out exactly how a quick scan of Wikipedia, the Serie A table and Torino fans views would suggest.
I get it in this instance because should we need to replace Che, we'd need it to be with someone that can slot straight in. Piroe knows the league, is a proven goalscorer in this league and knows Martin and his style of play. Even so, Piroe could potentially just not fit in here, but seems more likely that he'd be a success and hit the ground running. Whereas bringing someone in from the Belgian league for example is much more of a risk in theory.
Big fan of this stat. People don't appreciate how rare a 20 goal a season striker actually is. IIRC there are only 5 or 6 in the past 30 years who have done it on a consistent basis.
There's a bloke in the Bosnian 2nd division who looks ****ing brilliant on YouTube. Not sure it's really him in the highlights reel though, tbh.
I'm not sure that us not bidding for Piroe has to equate to us not selling Che. I still wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Che gets sold. But it might require Everton to find a bit more loose change down the back of the sofa, in orfer to increase their up-front instalment.
Yep, along with Haaland, Aguero, Rooney, Van Persie etc. The link is that there are or were world class. Only a handful of clubs could afford them.
for context Jermaine Defore NEVER had a 20 goal season in his career. and he'd be exactly what people mean by a '20 goal a season striker'
