Yeah, that's the effect relegation will have. I think you're in a fairly decent financial state compared to the others, the gambles you made on youth and potential in the transfer market should start to pay off, I'll be a bit surprised if you don't come straight back tbh.
Let me update it then: Joel Piroe is not moving clubs to be played out of his preferred central position.
We don’t need anyone else wide. Too much talent there already. If we are keeping Che I would say another CM and a defender are all we need. Hopefully good ones!
Welp all the chips are on Che, would be nice to see a new deal signed before the transfer window closes.
TBH I'm ok with missing out on Piroe if we keep what we have. A front 3 of Sulemana, Adams and Tella with Edozie and SAA coming off the bench, plus Charly in a deeper role would cause untold misery to every single Championship defence. Big if right now though.
Im of a similar mind that it is fine if we just retain what we have up front, but we must retain what we have (well except the dross). Need to see a CB to challenge Bednarek though.
Shame that we appear to have lost out on who would have been our clear preferred target. Or - as it seems - never even bid for him. Got to hope this means there is either another option or that Che is staying
Would always have chosen to keep Che over signing Piroe, but with Piroe off to Leeds then we have to keep Che, because I don't see who else would come in and be as good. Who cares if he leaves on a free next summer, not our money.
It wouldn't surprise me if we made a late attempt to hijack the Piroe deal. This could force us to issue an ultimatum to Everton, and if they accept our demands, then we may match the Leeds bid.
Ultimately we aren’t going to know if this is good or bad until the end of the season. With a week til the end of the window and still so many players who could leave we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. If we keep everyone who is here now then the squad looks light at centre back and centre mid in my opinion, even more so as ABK looks likely to go as well.
