Thanks RoD, being on a Friday i thought it would be and thought I was just not used to the new set up on Bristol Sport. I assume it was moved from Saturday, or are games not Sat 3pm not allowed to be showed this year, do you know.

Just seen the highlights on the BBC app and it could easily have been double figures in terms of goals for Villa.

Scottish prem, apart from the top 2 is more L1, championship maybe for a few teams, nowhere near Prem level.

No idea why it’s moved. Don’t they share their ground with rugby league? Could be a match on for them. But that’s just thinking out loud

Ashton don’t agree with that. A VPN and paying the £10 fee may make him feel like he’s helping the club.

I honestly don't agree with the official EFL reasons given for preventing fans who can't get to the ground for whatever reason paying the £10 to support their team.

    Agreed, it's a bit of a joke

The two big Glasgow clubs each get around 50,000 per home game, the rest of the teams and leagues get very poor gates by comparison.

Motherwell v Hibs in the Scottish Premier League attracted just 6,200 fans last week

At the end of last season, Queens Park played Dundee in a Scottish Championship Play Off Semi Final for promotion to the top league and got just 800 supporters for it.

I don’t feel comfortable using a VPN set to another country , if others want to that’s up to them, it’s not for me to judge. What I don’t get is there use is so widespread and impossible to police, so why not allow all games to be on official clubs sites such as RTV, at least that way the clubs get some amount of income.

    100% agree.
I think it’s the EFL rules though, not the individual clubs.
As I said above, I personally think the EFL are missing a trick. The only way to watch your team in this country is via ‘dodgy’ means, whereas they could be taking £thousands in revenue instead.
It’s alright for the top Prem teams - they are on TV every week and people can see them that way if they want - plus the clubs get the TV money.
The EFL clubs are hardly ever on TV (apart from Leeds and Leicester) so they don’t get that revenue.
Opening up as pay per view would make up some of that shortfall - and I honestly don’t think it would stop people going to games.
Perhaps even make it £20 per game.

Absolutely, I agree, if you want to watch games now there’s plenty of illegal ways to do it, so the argument about stopping people going to games doesn’t wash, a few years ago maybe, but not now. You’re right it isn’t down to the clubs, it’s the EFL that decide

Using a VPN the club still get money as you need to log on and pay to view.

Think the clubs voted against it. When it was up for renewal one of the providers wanted to do this saying not everyone can attend but the clubs didn’t want it.
I think the EFL put it to the clubs knowing they could make money from it as well.

Ah well, it's the clubs' (and the EFLs) loss - people will either not bother (0% revenue), get a dodgy free stream (0% revenue) or go the VPN way (£10 per game revenue - but still against the EFL rules)

No wonder so many impressionable youngsters go down the 'plastic' route - they can watch their plastic team every week for the price of a pint - and I don't see Premiership attendances affected.
It's just more evidence of the gap between the Prem and the rest of the football pyramid.

Son: 'Dad, Bristol City are playing Hull this week - lets go'
Dad: 'Sorry son - I'm working all day and haven't got time (or money) to go all the way up there'
Son: 'Ok dad - lets just watch on the TV for £10'
Dad: 'Sorry son - that service is only available to ex-pats - who no longer live in the UK'
Son: 'Fk it then dad - Chelsea vs Luton are on - I'll support Chelsea instead, like loads of my mates'

Short sighted imo, even if you just make the games available to away fans it would be something, that wouldn’t prevent people going

Just reading all the hype about Olliie Watkins and the Hibs game, I didn't realise but we came close to signing Ollie, certainly missed one there.

Bristol City were certainly interested in the young attacker when he moved to Griffin Park
, with Lee Johnson taking in an Exeter City game when Watkins was hyped as one of the hottest prospects in the lower leagues
Aston Villa target Ollie Watkins one that got away for Bristol City as he says local loan was most important move
The attacker, now at Brentford, impressed right under the Robins' noses before he hit the big time

I remember us being very heavily linked, but the price touted was too high from memory.
