I don't quite get why SFC would entertain offer's for a player who has almost single handedly scored the goals that have kept us in 3 games that we would otherwise lost. If he goes we have no other proven goalscorer.

We wouldn't have lost to either Sheffield Wednesday or Plymouth without Che's goals.

There are only 2 scenarios I can think of if you are struggling for why the club would sell Adams

    1. We are selling anyone and everyone who has interest to rebuild/asset strip (delete as appropriate to suit your view)

    2. Adams has made it clear he doesn’t want to stay so we are letting him leave

I personally think it’s far more likely to be number 2 out of those, but the next week or so will tell us more.

I don’t think “he has one year left on his deal so we need to sell” is a particularly viable option if Adams was happy to stay, as I think we would keep him based on how much we have brought in already this summer. If we were to get promoted then I think him signing a new deal would be the most likely option

My memory of ourselves and other clubs going into administration is that football debts are protected from other creditors.
It’s the small local business that usually end up getting 2p in the £ back

Don’t they have a FFP tribunal in a couple of months and pending lawsuits from four clubs relegated instead of them (including us) if they are found guilty of staying up through breaking the rules. I don’t think any of those lawsuits will stick but it still is something they don’t need

If we get promoted, we might not want to offer him a new deal, and knowing that might be the problem for him here and now.

I don't think the majority of players look much further than money to be honest. I guess Che's take home pay has taken a hit after relegation and going back on PL wages is tempting him. If he is wiling to go to Everton it probably suggests he isn't all that fussy about where he goes as long as it's the PL.
What he might not be ready for though is the Everton crowd. They always seem to be angry about something and are not going to be as patient as Saints' fans who had to wait 30 games to see his first goal.
My opinion is that their fans, who are not overly impressed with the signing in the first place, will be on his back pretty quickly unless he can get some goals early on.

And for what it's worth, the same applies to JWP who has to pop in a free kick in the next week or two to stand any chance of getting the love from WH fans.

JWP is already getting the love with his two assist debut.

That had a feel of trying to reassure themselves he's a good signing. But it's probably given him a bit of breathing space which personally I don't think will last. It depends on how their season goes I guess.

Add to this, that there was an article yesterday stating that a potential major investor has pulled out which suggests they have seen the books and they are as bad as has been reported

Im not massively up to speed with it, after thaw farcical situation with Koeman and the “war chest” he moved for…. With all the money Moshiri put in, I read a couple of months ago that he was set to sell it for £1 Asan investor was going to take on the debt… what an absolute cluster f*ck…

I read something about the investor were told they’d have to pay off some existing debt. Presumably not all of it. But I think the debt of whoever’s stake they were taking on. And they were having none of it

Maybe because we want to sell, not loan him out.

Didn’t a bunch of our fans want him last year? Surely he’d cost a lot more unless udinese are struggling financially and it can be a loan to take the wages off the books

Or the wage contribution, loan free or option fee (or all of them) were too low ?
