Race baiters like Shogbamimu exacerbate problems. Latest, Lucy Letby was allowed to kill babies because she was white, and would have been caught if she'd been black. No evidence given whatsoever.
BAME nurses are referred to their regulator disproportionately so it’s not that wild an accusation. Probably not the best choice of words if that’s how it was said. Not really the same point though as what Morgan Freeman said assuming that’s a real quote. The only people who benefit from being quiet about racism are the racists who generally don’t like being called racists.
Morgan Freeman's point is that deliberate division (eg black history, white history) does not create a unified society. That's not to say that black history cannot be studied. Just that it does not make up the entirety of black people's history, in the same way that white history does not make up the entirety for white people. There are BAME people that featured prominently in both world wars for instance.
Can’t say I feel any less unified as a result of Black History month which has been around for ages but then I’m not looking for something to cry about.
His comment is not aimed at you. It's aimed at his fellow black people in the US who feel that African and not American history represents them, forgetting that it was black slave dealers that sold their forebears into slavery into the first place.
Identity Politics is put out there to divide us and only gives power to those in control who seek for the status quo to remain.
That's not his message though if you read all the quote. As I say, it's about not highlighting division. Which is what is happening in America. Of course determined racists should be called out.
