Nunez is an interesting conundrum. He brings a lot of energy to the front line and I feel like he stretches the opposition nicely, but he hasn't quite got the goals or assists that I think Klopp thought he was going to provide... but we definitely seem more lively in attack when he's on.
I love Nunez playing on the left but no chance he gets in ahead of Diaz. I'm not convinced Nunez will do the Bobby/Gakpo central role too well, he'll play as an out and out striker meaning less space for Salah and Diaz to exploit
Gakpo has to play the link-up role, he has the brains to do it, imo. Nunez and Diaz are both talented, but there's not too much thinking going on there.
gakpo would be eaten alive by the newcastle cbs. nunez would be eaten alive. they are a good outfit at the back. jota imo is the best call for Sunday.
well its true. that was February AND right before the league cup final so they were a smidge distracted scraped past Fulham 1-0 drew 0-0 with palace drew 1-1 with west ham Drew 1-1 with Bournemouth Add in Southampton semi final in league cup around those games and there's a pretty clear trend of their form having dropped quite a bit in that period they also lost Guimaraes to a red in the league cup and he was missing against us.
I'm only commenting on THEIR tiredness which was shown by THEIR form at the time. They have big old CBs that'll eat gakpo and nunez alive. Jota s far more guileful imo and will do better. diaz imo will do better against them as well Asdie form that forward line v their back 4 then we need our 3 CMs in here not 2 plus gakpo as well. Look at thier CMs as well. Joelinton is a big ****er who's quite physical, guimaeres and tonali too. they are a robust side that's added more and more to their game and less and less donkeys. IMO their issue is the quality now in wide areas. Almiron is all well and good but he's not great and gordon is gordon. I think Jota is the main man IMO but we need the 3 CMS to play and salah and diaz to do their bit.
Imagine if mito was the manager. "Ok lads, do your best, but really you've no chance - they're big ****ers and they're gonna chew you up. I'd take a draw now to be honest, 'cos that's the best I think you can do, and I've put a tenner on it so don't let me down. Off you go."
Botman is 23 ffs if you wanted to go down this route instead of claiming tiredness and old CB's you would have been better off mentioning the pivotal event in the game.
Do the scenes of this moon landing remind anyone else of the scenes from the World Cup when all the fans were arriving ? My favourite being the Indian President/Prime Minister waving his flag
Just read that Jones reportedly didn't turn up for training today, anyone able to confirm or deny this...?
For all the complaints from Liverpool fans you've got a very strong side on paper unless im missing something?
sounds like still injured. The 22-year-old was forced to sit out of the second match of the season following an ankle injury sustained in training. This was first claimed by The Athletic on Saturday. Their report suggested the injury was only a minor one and Jones would return to training with hopes of being included in the group that travels to the North East on Sunday. However, he wasn't pictured in the latest set of training images released by the club. Having made a bright impact towards the end of last season after recovering from injury, the midfielder picked up where he left off with an energetic display in the latter stages against Chelsea eight days ago
All healthy and fit, I think we have a decent first XI. Squad is a little thin once one or two injuries or suspensions pick up. Especially in defence, but midfield too. In seasons past there would be more debate on who should start Everyone fit, we know who our first XI is. We've clearly got a "best team".
