Hi all. First post. Tend to enjoy reading the threads that others write rather than posting myself, but felt the need to share this as I've not seen it on this forum: http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/11/16/lithuania-snoras-idUKL5E7MG3KB20111116 Just as it seemed Pompey was starting to get settled!!! Is Antonov in trouble?
Hi All, Come news breaking today that Antanov's bank, in which he holds a 61.8% share has been taken over by the administrators because of "to a risk of âinsolvencyâ and âpossible criminal activityâ." Portsmouth FC & CSI have not commented about this yet - but do we have something to be worried about? http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/east-hampshire/administrators_appointed_at_pompey_owner_s_bank_1_3257511 Obviously, Antonov is a joint owner at PFC, and we are unaware of what % stake he holds - but what knock on effect can we expect? And there was me thinking that Pompey were moving in the right direction! *sigh*
I don't think you can amend the title. Mind you I think it's more apt as it is, asking what hole we might be in next
I posted a thread on this subject in the early hours this morning (including a link to a Reuters article on the subject), but my thread has to be moderated before it appears (because I'm a new poster I suppose). Have any of the moderators seen it?
I commented on it first thing this morning, but didn't notice it was modded. Have just 'approved it so should be visible to all now.
Antonov might be having trouble with the bank that he is the majority share holder in, but we don't know all the details. As far a criminal activity goes- that could be down to anyone - and not necessarily Antonov. We are also owned by CSI - who is also owned by two more people. If the bank goes down the swannie, then this will not have a knock on effect to CSI unless Antonov pulls his funding from that company. I don't think we have too much to worry about here people - Antonov has a vast amount of money, and I do not believe we will see a knock on effect to PFC from this news.
Sweep and I come in peace. It is a little worrying that the FSA or Financial Services Authority barred Snoras bank from opening a branch in the UK because "it repeatedly gave misleading and incomplete," answers to the regulator. The FSA also criticized the largest shareholder of the Lithuanian bank, Vladimir Antonov, for providing the authority with misleading information. The above case was admittedly quite controversial, however, a little more transparency and honesty into the shareholder profiles and shareholdings of the CSI figures would certainly be welcomed.
Perhaps Antonov was just a "sleeping partner" in the Snoras bank? No need to worry just yet, you'll just have to wait and see what happens.
As others have said, it wouldn't be Pompey without a few little 'issues'. Just when you think we have turned the corner and are on a nice long straight, then up comes a chicane - let's hope there's no chicanery involved here.
I may be completely wrong...... but I remember reading somewhere that Vladi only has a 5% stake in Pompey with Antov having an 86% stake. If that is the case then maybe it won't be too much of a problem for us.
