No united does not mean Manchester United you dumbass and if you seriously think that then you are more stupid than i realised. United is part of so many teams names that it cannot possibly refer to Manchester United. For example if you are watching a newcastle v sunderland game, and newcastle score, it is more than acceptable to say united have scored. Is this simple enougn for you or are you so ******ed you cant grasp that.

    Oh dear.

Yes United is in many other teams names but someone refers to 'United' it can safely be assumed that it means Manchester United. Most people call Leeds United, Leeds because they are a one club city and you don't need to go any further than that. This is why NU are often just called Newcastle and West Ham likewise.

However...are you still keeping up???.....Manchester has two massive clubs and you can't just say 'Manchester' to refer to either so they are often just called City or United.

Not withstanding this, I referred to us stopping a 'United' winning 7 league titles. It should therefore be easily deduced that the only United that I could have been referring to was Manchester United being the only team to win a P.L title other than us in the last 7 years.

    Logic not a strong point??!!

As this is been posted on the Leeds United board surely we are to presume you are talking about Leeds United! It also works the same if we said Blue Scum we would be referring to Chelsea and not another team that plays in blue because we are also posting on the Chelsea board!

    That seems logical to me.

So if I said Chelsea had stopped United winning 7 league titles in a row (given Leeds haven't even been in the same league during this time), you'd assume I was talking about Leeds just because the post is on a Leeds (and Chelsea) thread.

    You're either a simpleton or argumentative...you decide.

Just because you say it is so does not make you correct over me, at this point were pretty much saying to each other yes it is, no its not, yes it is, no its not and so on. The fact of the matter is if you say united, you can be referring to any club with united in its name. I can guarantee to you that no leeds fan would EVER EVER dream of calling the manc scum united because that is also in leeds name. Maybe, you refer to them as being united because they are one of your premier league rivals and the only real contender that has united in its name, doesnt mean everyone in the country calls them that.

So if you continue to refer to them as untied, i will just keep being a ****ing smartass to you.

Yes, admittedly I'd be confused but I wouldn't expect a Chelsea fan to make much sense anyway.

Argumentative me, no I'm not. ;)

Manchester United formed 1878, biggest club on earth with largest away following
Leeds: b1919 (in effect 1961, no history), d2003

So, ergo: when speaking of United, we think Manchester.

I could not even name one Leeds player these days

his ignorance is ridiculous and correct me if i'm wrong but leeds city were actually formed before and then the club folded to form leeds united. I used to know the ins and outs of this but weren't leeds city formed in the 1800's.

Oh, the irony... you don't even know your own club's history...
Leeds City formed 1904 and disbanded due to financial irregularities and cheating; a bit like Leeds united in 2003

What's that saying? People in glass houses.........................was the fit and proper test around when The Russian took over?

You know quite a lot about United considering we've no history! Surprised google has anything on such an insignificant team!

Another amazing fact if you google Leeds United and Chelsea there's nearly double the amount of results for little old Leeds United. Odd don't you think?

I do have a question though Hammersmith. What will chelsea do when Abromovich has left and lets be fair, hes not gonna be there for ever. Theres no way you will have another billionaire go to your club, so what will happen with the massive unsustainable wage bill and the obvious lack of ability to sign players?

No history before 1961? So from 1948 to 1957 football legend John Charles just played for no-one?

<doh> there's always someone slow on the up take! Normally the Chelsea fan!
Throughout this discussion we've been hearing how great Chelsea are and how insignificant United are, do I need to go on?

There is a little word called 'context'. If I say 'Chelsea stoped United winning the league in 2010', I think all barring morons would know who I was referring to.

But i guess the crux of the whole debate is your bitterness towards MANCHESTER UNITED.
