One of those strikers I doubt Davis would ever be in contention with and Oscar is probably on his way out if Davis comes in
Rather keep Oscar he should be given the chance with the new players he would probably get alot of service, and does not matter that some think he is not good enough or suited to LR's style but plenty of others will have to get used to it and he did score 13 in the games he played alot less games than Davis did.
Yes it sounds like the other lad is more what we really need, if he's as good as everyone says, so hopefully we'll get him
I agree if it was one or the other. There may well be interest in Oscar that he is wanting to pursue though for all we know.
I think the key is, goals aside, Davis wont give a CB a minutes peace.. make more space for Delap... and the ball seems to strike with him... having said, I like Oscar a lot as a player...
Davis was instrumental in Forests play off push he reminds me of Heskey , strong physical and creates opportunities for players around him.
If you look at Watford fans opinions, he sounds a lot like Tom Eaves, and harrying and causing problems is the last thing he does.
I know players look at other options but in this case i have the feeling maybe anything else better if it comes along he would take it, i know it rarely happens but it is nice to have players who want to be at the club or want to come here bit like Twine and Delap thought.
Not disaster at all if we never got Davis we have Delap,Oscar,Connolly,Sandat we can bring through and also Simms.
A name I haven't heard linked (and has had injury trouble) - Isaac Hayden. Would he fit the midfield role we need or is he damaged goods now?
But he still scored 13 , and avaraged 11 passes a game not saying he is better but like i said i like to see players who want to be at the club instead of " maybe we will see what better comes along before i pick you players" if he has options or is waiting for better options leave it move on it's Philogene we would like most anyway, yes Keinan you are our 2nd choice we hope to get our first option from your club.
I was given pelters on here for saying Oscar was not all that last season. His touch is awful, he always seems to be a yard short of where he is needed and many of his goals were bouncing off his shin from a few yards out. Yes, you need to be there to score them, and yes he did score some decent ones too, but the hype was way over the top. Liam has clearly worked him out and we would be lucky to get much of a fee for him.
Sadly the transfer market isn't an ideal world. We will buy players that are not our first choice and players will sign for us where weren't their first choice. If you rule out those players I can guarantee you'd struggle to fill a squad
Here's a little fear bearing in mind the hysteria of yesterday, If Philogene and Davis were only available as a package...?
