Never east going to their place - especially for an evening game ( we seem to play them in evening games a lot for subs reason)

Hopefully we can get a similar result as last year.

    Ramsdale
    White - Saliba - Gabriel - Tierney
    Rice - Partey
    Odegaard
    Saka - Nketiah - Martinelli

Hearing rumours that Gabriel Magalhaes is on the bench again?! No idea what Arteta is playing at here - unless he’s injured or not fully fit, it is unacceptable that one of our best defenders isn’t starting.

Hearing also that Havertz is starting and Trossard is on the bench yet again - no idea what more he has to do to get a start.

If we don’t get a comfortable victory tonight, huge questions are going to be asked of Arteta.

I’m genuinely baffled at why he’s completely changed a system and personnel that didn’t need this much tweaking.

I’m sorry but this line up is bonkers. Partey at RB again when he was awful against Forest last week. Tomiyasu at LB when he’s not comfortable building up with the ball at his feet. Havertz in midfield in a game when we need physicality. This is a horrible team and I really worry for this performance.

I really don’t get any of this at all.

Ah wait. Seeing rumours that Gabriel is in talks for a move to Saudi Arabia. That would make sense for why he’s been dropped.

Reports tonight that Al-Ittihad want to sign Gabriel.

This would be a huge blow if we lost him. Too much instability if we want to challenge for the title.

No mate, He's not been dropped. It's just because we've gone with the back three again. (Im not sure about it soo far)

I've heard that Arsenal will be playing this formation against teams who play with a low block this Season. There's actually three different setups we are going with this year.

We'll still start plenty of games this Season with the 433 like last Season. Gabriel isn't going anywhere.

I don't think we've looked as fluid at all in the last two games playing this formation.
(we also played with this in the ManU loss during PreSeason)

What a run by Eddie, so unlucky to hit the post at the end there. Would have been a great solo goal.

Omg Eddie how have you missed that? That’s so poor. Why did he try to chip it? Just put your laces through it from 5 yards away.

That was such a beautiful attacking move and deserved to be finished.

I don’t think he’s just been dropped for purely tactical reasons - Gabriel started all of our pre-season games and in the Community Shield, then we drop him for the first two games of the season? I don’t believe that it’s tactics alone. I think it may have something to do with the interest from Saudi.

    HT. 0-0.

Rice and Saliba have been very good. Everyone else has been meh.

Eddie should have scored 1 of the 2 chances that came his way and it’s incredibly frustrating that he decided to try and chip the ‘keeper from 5 yards out when we needed a goal. Utter stupidity.

We started to look more comfortable on the ball when the half progressed, but the passing is all too horizontal. We need more penetrative passes or a player to make a progressive run with the ball to break the lines. We’re a bit too static at times.

They’ve also hit us on the break a bit too easily for my liking. Tomiyasu has struggled against Ayew and we’ve not dealt with the long ball in to the left channel as well as we should.

Need to do better in the second half.

Yes mate in the Charity Shield for example we played a 4-3-3 with Timber playing the inverted role. Same as last Season.

This is basically a 3 -2- 4 -1 with Partey allowed to drift out to the right. We've played it 4-5 times now and I'm not sure it's quite working.

    1-0!

Good interplay between Nketiah and Martinelli, definite penalty. Lovey finish from Odegaard from the spot.

Partey <doh>. What a stupid, sloppy giveaway. Thankfully it didn’t result in a goal.

Tomiyasu sent off. Such a stupid second booking. So needless.

I don’t think either of Tomiyasu’s yellow cards were yellow cards, but what else can you do when the standard of refereeing in this league is as bad as it is?

    Coote is a shocking referee.

And now Ayew, who shouldn’t be on the pitch, is winning fouls he shouldn’t be getting.

Tomiyasu had the ball for 8 seconds for the throw in before he got a yellow card. And the second yellow he got was ridiculously soft as Ayew dived <doh> Coote is a shocking referee. I hope we appeal that red.

    That’s an unbelievably bad decision.

We’re surrendering possession too much here. We need to keep the ball and stop treating it like a hot potato. We’re giving Palace way too much encouragement.
