I have a new keyboard and touch pad that I need installing on to a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop, can anyone recommend someone that won't charge an arm and a leg please?
Do it yourself. It's a piece of piss. Literally a five minute job. Watch this a few times and see if you fancy it.
You're welcome fella. Not familiar with that model, only ever worked on my own laptop but it's generally very easy and you shouldn't have to remove much in order to replace those parts and youtube is full of step by step instructions on how to do these things. It'll be putting those greedy bastards out of business. Hope you fancy it. Let me know how it goes.
Computer workshop on the old Remploy site off Chamberlain Road, believe they do the repairs for the shops. They have a trade counter. Worth a try? Avoid computer shop on Newland Ave, nice bloke but he hasn't got a clue himself.
Usually the keyboard is as simple as a few clips & a ribbon cable so a doddle, trackpad I've never tried. If all else fails there's always Dazednconfused (or . or whatever else he calls himself on here)
Honestly Funky, I decided to shell out £15 to an expert to do it, I just didn't want to **** it up with my fat fingers, but thanks for your help at the time though
No worries fella. For 15 quid I would have too. Some of these pc shops charge a ridiculous amount for two minutes work but that's lovely and cheep. Glad you're sorted fella.
I used a guy called Ian Butters, here's the link to his FB page https://www.facebook.com/ian.butters.71?ref=ts&fref=ts
Anyone got any current suggestions/recommendations? Got a not booty-ish laptop. I can troubleshoot and fix PC's but when it gets down to diagnosing laptop and whether it is battery/mb/cpu or monitor I'd rather let someone else handle it. Swapped out all the easy bits with no joy.
Nice one fella, cheap job there fella really pleased for you fella, anymore probs with it fella you know where to take it fella, thanks fella
Someone recommend shop at the town end of Spring Bank has been okay when he had a problem with his laptop/tablet...Right hand side if heading into town, but since then I've heard a few iffy things, so perhaps best avoid
