Holden in the all time top 10?? Lies, damned lies and Statistics. Although I think most of us wish Deano all the very best, I don’t think many would have him back in the dugout for us.
you lot were saying we did not need a NO9 or midfielder or goalkeeper when i could clearly see that is what is required before a ball was kicked in the championship. Even Matt Withers is saying the same in today's Evening Post https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...YqriY3MXTvgT61cdXtcGpAN89GIq0olK8VqbRGKF_pGVQ
My point is NP should be allowed funds(within FFP obviously) to bring in who HE sees fit to bring in, we all may have views on who or what positions need strengthening, but ultimately that’s NP’s decision.
I said he has had limited funds due to the pickle we were in, I went on to say having had his main play maker sold for a reported £25m, NP should now be given funds (within FFP). to bring players In if we are serious about wanting to be challenging this season.
We seemed to find £15k ish per week to spunk away on Simpson, whilst getting stressed over wages for Wells and Palmer who actually played for us.
It’s questionable whether Palmer was any better value than Simpson, he was also an awful and unnecessary signing, by a previous regime.
Funny as I remember loads on here initially getting very excited saying how come he was getting the results with the same players, we were even in the top few spots until the wheels fell off big time.. I remember saying how we would react after a defeat.. the rest is history.. of course it was a bit of dead cat bounce syndrome.. But I agree should never have been put in. I could never understand that he was chosen to take us to the next level. The whole process at the time was an utter shambles!!
I honestly don’t like the idea of getting a No9 just for height.. we did that when GJ was in charge and totally changed our style of play in playing long balls. But we do have a bit of a height issue in the side which does need to be addressed.
Saturday pumping cosses in to 5' 6 players Birmingham defenders will not have a easier game all season. Must be played on the deck.
Funds don't = success, we already know this, and look at Chelsea. It's about good recruitment and good coaching, look at Brighton. We have recruited mainly L1 players over the last 2 years, and I don't rate our coaching team tbh.
In relative terms to their environment, i.e. the Premier league and it's income, and how much they have recouped on players, not much at all. A club with good recruitment, good managers and coaches. We could learn a hell of a lot from their model, as we have had none of those in the last few years.
You are preaching to the converted. We all know it's about which players are signed not the cost. Brentford are another example.
