I can't find any articles claiming he was available for £500k, but did find this one about him interesting Liverpool and Newcastle... https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footba...h-jaden-philogene-representatives_520471.html
While Philogene did not set the world alight in the Championship, the winger has been offered the chance to prove himself under Villa head coach Unai Emery during pre-season Let's hope that line is a little different with us this season
Any potential hiccups with this deal Howden? It seems like now the deal is out in the open, there’s more clubs being linked.
Honestly no idea, for baz to put it out there it must be close if not done. I'm still being told there's plans for tomorrow, so fingers crossed. I'm still a little shocked it got dropped by Barry when the clubs done everything possible to keep it quiet. But he must have been told he could do or he'll burn bridges and trust if he's jumped the gun.
The £500k was actually from a forum post that I think is a copy and paste of a tweet from a mirror journo but I can’t see it. https://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=234085
I know you're tempering expectations a bit but it does say a lot that both Villa and Cardiff fans seem genuinely gutted we are getting this lad.
That's such a rubbish article. Also, 5 goals in a poor team that struggled to score goals isn't too bad. It's been mentioned by Cardiff fans that he stood out a lot in the 2nd half of the season. Very rarely these days do you get consistent performances from wingers, especially if the collective team is struggling and it will be no different with Philogene, however, he will add pace that we need and at times do things that nobody else in our team can do. If we stick by him, build some momentum as a team then he will be a fantastic asset for the club.
Delap flattered to deceive last season, looked excellent so far. Young players need time, now Delap has adjusted he’s looked the business. Hopefully the same after Philogene’s first senior season
Don't know where to put this but at the open training session today and no sign of Tufan anywhere. Injured or something else?
If Jaden would've scored double figures last season, we'd have no chance of getting near him. Probably the same with Delap and Twine too. I'm not sure Delap will score many this season either which might enable us to get him on a permanent
Bingo. Think some people have to remember what markets we are shopping in some times. You have to find some diamonds and that involves risk
Just trying to understand where the hypes coming from. People on here are talking as if he’s had a Bowen or James Maddison season, but his season at Cardiff was worse than Ryan Longman for us in 21/22. Nobody had ever made a single post about him on this forum, or commented on him when he played against us, other than John in one comment on the match thread. Until very recently on this very thread. By all accounts he was deemed not good enough and available to leave Villa by all in June/July until he had a decent pre season. He only started a Sydney-half the games for one of the worst sides in the league last season and didn’t even make the pitch for some despite being available for all but one. Granted he looks a promising player but just not sure what’s generating the furious ****fest. Can’t see how anyone could consider it a socks off signing.
I mean very rarely unless a player is top standout against us do I see match threads go in depth about opposition players. I could probably pull it up from Norwich thread and find similar levels about Jason Rowe and he looks a class above. Looking at stats is also not really providing the full picture. Longman for all his credit has been streaky at best. As others have mentioned some young players take time to develop in the championship. A permanent move probably helps Philogene. Scoring 5 in a pretty crap Cardiff team is good going plus he looks like he has something we sorely lack and even you acknowledged in the Blackburn thread is pace and the ability to take a man on. He may turn out pants but he looks the business and Villa seeming gutted to let him go is a good litmus test
Rowe at Norwich who some say looks good is on £2,100 a week. Whoever is responsible for landing him did a good job. Though I believe he has moved on after some years there.
