Morning all. It is already very warm, and I am not intending to do too much. Yesterday at the weekly shop, an elderly gent had found the perfect answer to trailing around behind his wife while she compared brands and prices. A chair had appeared at the end of the row containing beauty products, and he was on it, fast asleep. People were passing by quite closely, but nothing stirred him. I expect he got a bit of a wigging when she was ready to move on. He would have headed to the place where shoes are sold, and he could be sure to find another seat. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. If it was hot yesterday, it is likely to be more so today. At 8.00 am it was quite pleasant, so get the doors and windows open to cool the house, but as the sun moves round, it is better to create some shade with the shutters. Another day when not much will get done. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. A very hot day in store again. A builder friend here spent 10 years turning a small cottage into a quite large and lovely house by linking the cottage with outbuildings. It took so long because he was working to earn the money to carry out the conversion. Now he has started on another cottage, but in Brittany, because his wife finds it too hot here during the summer months. Brittany in summer and the Vienne in winter is the plan. So now he has found new clients in the north, not difficult if you are an English speaker, and is juggling his time between his house and theirs. He might get finished just as he is due to retire. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Yes, our large turbo one came out last night as the temperature stayed high. Mme's physio session this afternoon, and at the medical centre I have laid claim to a large oak tree that provides shade.

Morning all. 37°C is forecast for this afternoon, and just typing can bring a sweat on. For those of you who might not know, a midwife here is called a sage-femme, literally a wise woman. My granddaughter at university has spent a lot of time on her course delivering babies, Being an impoverished student she was delighted to be offered a holiday job covering while others take their vacances. Four twelve-hour night shifts each week, that can see one night with no new arrivals, and the next four or five. All of this is on the full pay that a midwife in a hospital receives, and she even has a sticker on the car windscreen saying she is a sage-femme. One very happy, if tired granddaughter. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. 31°C at 8.00 am, so another hot day is ahead of us. Off before it gets too hot to give my bank an ear-bashing. Their machine lost my money, which I reported the next day, yet they still after three and a half weeks have not found it. It would appear that it is not their machine at all, but belongs to Brinks, who empty and fill it. As I do not have a contract with Brinks I will point out that outsourcing can not be an excuse for bad service. It would help if I could see the same person who promised action last week, but my hopes are not high. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Success! Demanded to see a manager. I actually got one with the power to do something. Within a couple of hours I had my money back, and the manager on the phone to confirm it. Why such things take so long is a mystery. Still, things could be worse. A friend received a modest inheritance that his bank refused to release as they thought he could be money laundering. It took him a couple of months to get the money, and he had to supply a small forest of paperwork.

I get the paperwork side of things, here red tape is unreal.

    Hope all are well.

Not much happening here, although, the rains have been better than previous years. If that is enough to fill the reservoirs around the country, time will tell. Hurricane season ends in November ish.

Morning all. A bad night's sleep with the heat despite the fans. They were circulating warm air as it remained hot outside. Still today is the last day of this extreme, with a ten degree drop in temperature likely tomorrow. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. We have survived the heatwave, and what joy to have temperatures back to normal. As often happens, periods of heat come to an end with a large thunderstorm, as it did last night I am led to believe. When asked if it woke me up, I could only ask what thunderstorm? Maybe I can now start doing some jobs that have been put off for the last week. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. 20°C outside, which is very comfortable. I received a text message from Orange yesterday apologizing that my internet and phone were not working due to a fault that their engineers were working on, and hopefully my service would be restored by midday today. When this outage happens they give you 200G of data so that you can connect your devices to the mobile network, and use your phone as a modem. I accepted their additional data with pleasure, as I run out over a month unless I am careful. The actuality however was that there was no interruption to my service, Maybe this is going to be a good weekend. :emoticon-0100-smile Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Totally overcast with light rain, making it feel on the chilly side. Our doctor retired a year ago, and as there is a shortage of them prepared to work in rural areas, we now share one with another practice. This means that instead of getting to see her the same day, or the next if you are a bit late phoning, you will have to wait three days. The medical centre that Mme goes to in a larger town for her physio has five GPs, each with their own phone number to book an appointment. The board outside the centre has loads of information about the services provided, including one person who deals with sports injuries. I am still thinking that just about every part of you has someone who specializes in your problem. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Overcast, but dry; so I have my gardening gear on, ready to attack some brambles. Quite a lot of berries were formed, but didn't swell up. Not much use to me, but the birds enjoy them? Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. The days are getting shorter, as the sun has not yet appeared from behind the barn across the road. Yesterday a man appeared with a metal detector scanning the road. He was from the water board, and as our pressure has been low for some time, I asked if there is a problem. It seems as though his blue lines on the road are there to help find a leak as quickly as possible, rather than search for a pipe's route. Rather good thinking ahead to save a precious commodity. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Afternoon all. Turned warm again, so got an early start down the fields. The green lane leading there is blocked again, this time by a large ash tree that has come down in the strong winds we have had recently. The chainsaw will have to come out again, with more logs for the winter, but I have more than enough to do. I need my son-in-law here again who is much faster than me chopping up dead trees. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Sunny and warm again. Today I will be spending some time with my eldest granddaughter, who has left her teenage years behind her. She came to France as a 10-year-old with a chronic allergy to lactose, that she had been told in England could not be cured, and she would have to live with it. One day of treatment at the hospital in Poitiers, and the problem disappeared. She doesn't like the taste of cheese or milk, but can have them with no ill effects. The days of reading labels in the supermarket to see what a product contains are over, which is a huge relief. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Très, très chaud. Started early as the temperature is likely to be in the mid to upper thirties most of the week. It really is not the weather for heaving heavy ash logs about. The Météo have a warning out for the heat, but also for desert sand that is heading our way. Not much point in washing the car. Physio for Mme this afternoon, so I should have awhile to recover from my exercise this morning. Have a good day everyone. <ok>
