You seem to have a blinkered memory of what you said:

These ref comments are pathetic bitter **** by the way.

So, you think insulting everyone for their opinion doesn’t ‘hamper discussion’ but you are shocked when I call you out for it? Commenting on us isn’t necessary. Let us rant how we like about a bad referee.

It’s a shame, but the best team did win this game IMO.

Ref didn’t bath herself in glory and even though Earps saved the Pen, I got the feeling she bottled it as she wanted to stick to her decision on field.

This game though is more about what it has done for women’s football. Girls now have real girl heroes that play football. Women’s football is different but easily as skilled as the men’s game and I for one have enjoyed watching the games. Football isn’t a man’s game anymore (I am not saying I thought that, but that was the general traditional view), it is for everyone. That isn’t a woke view either.

Russel Martin said something on Friday in his presser that struck a chord with me. When asked about Sarina Weigman become a men’s coach now maybe, he said why should being a coach in the men’s game for her be seen as a promotion or the ‘pinnacle’ of her career. She has just lead two nations back to back to the final of the World Cup.

Not as gutted as the men’s Euro final, but still a bit gutted by the result.

One day, one day, football may come home.

Ok maybe it was too blunt, sorry if so.

I think it is fine to be critical of each others football opinions though, maybe I went too far with the strength of the comment.

No intent to shut down conversation, just frustrated as imo the ref didn’t impact the result.

The ref MAY not have impacted the result but you don’t know that. The ref DEFINITELY made a mistake which allowed them to defend with an extra player for 15 minutes. If she had let them bring on a 12th you would be ranting, but in effect she gave them an advantage through failure to enforce a very basic rule.

They won the Euros two years ago. Hardly bottlers. Can't win them all.

Looks like William made a good choice going to Villas first home game rather than the Woman’s World Cup

Cant speak for your league but I absolutely love it. I’m playing 45s tho now in my 50s. This season a lot of older players quit and so I’ve ended up rebuilding a team. My boys both play and I’ve been a coach for the last few years so this season I’ve recruited a lot of clones, dads with kids in the club many of whom have coached.
Find a good team with like minded people and get amongst it. Look forward to every game.

caveat - 10 days ago I scored 4 goals, 3 days ago I skied a bobbling ball over from 2 yards out. 10 days ago I slept like a baby, 3 days ago I was muttering **** under my breath at 2am. It’s not always good. <laugh><laugh>

Wiegeman was a interesting one in the final. Feel like they were setup wrong in the first half, she sorted that too late really but all good. I’m more amazed that we haven’t seen comment about sending the CB Bright up to play striker at the end of the game. That was the only thing I’ve seen in the whole tournament that I felt let the women’s game down. It felt like a move from kids football not the professional game. Big slow lumbering player to desperately try and get a header at the end.is that what corners are for??

I saw headlines about the Spanish FA guy kissing the player but had not even looked into it. She grabbed his crotch first ? Interesting how professional victim Megan Rapinoe refers to one incident as assault and doesn’t mention the other at all. What would the reaction have been had he grabbed her in a private area. Well the reaction to the kiss gives some indication. If Rapinoe didn’t have double standards I’m sure she’d have no standards at all

For the record - neither incident was appropriate

Also as for Rapinoe’s wailing over the reaction to the US losing - I assume she has not bothered to look into all the reactions to other teams losing. The many England examples are obviously familiar to lots of us. But what about Colombia in 1994. Someone actually died due to that

I still can’t believe that hat the likes of Rapinoe are given air time. Especially on the bbc.

I didn’t dig too much into the reaction of the lionesses. Wasn’t it “even though they lost they were heroes anyway”. Don’t recall Rashford, Saka and Sancho getting the same grace

I believe he grabbed his own crotch in celebration of one of the Spanish goals.

Just seen RSS response and this is clearly an issue of unclear English on the BBC article.

Yeah, that's what I read on the BBC too. Wasn't sure if Gregm had seen it elsewhere and was drawing on other sources. Wanted to check first before pointing out the error.

Yeah the English phrasing was definitely unclear. Well most of my post is irrelevant now then. Makes sense why Rapinoe didn’t mention it

But as to the complaints about the reactions to the US exit:

I still think she should be more aware of what happens when teams massively disappoint at a tournament. Especially after displaying swaggering arrogance before hand.

Edit: I don’t think it was the phrasing unless it has since changed and more me getting the names of the people involved switched around.

Rapinoe does mention the grabbing of his crotch:

"There was another picture that signals such a deep level of misogyny and sexism in that federation and in that man (Rubiales) at the final whistle, just grabbing his crotch.

"What kind of upside-down world are we in? On the biggest stage, where you should be celebrating, Jenni has to be physically assaulted by this guy."

Perhaps there's a wind of change with me to movement and the Tates facing trial in a country they went to because they believed the authorities there had a more tolerant view of their 'activities'.
