**** it, let's go back to 4 4 2, it seemed to work out for Mr Ferguson. Rashford and Hojland up front, Garnacho, Casemiro, Bruno and Antony in midfield and our best back four. Mount can watch and learn..

    That's not very modern! lol
Rashford should be able to play on the advanced left flank with Hojlund as the target man. We would need dynamism on the right side though and Antony won't give that unless we have an overlapping right back starting with him in the form of maybe Dalot instead of AWB. But if we play natural right footed winger, it will make 4-4-2 more of a viable option.

To play 4 4 2, much as I'd love to, you need a genuine all out tackling CM.

    Robson/Moses
    Robson/Ince
    Robson/Ince/Keane
    Keane/Scholes
    Carrick/Scholes

We don't have that. Amrabat would sort that.
Fernandes could never play in a 4 4 2 by the way, so he might as well be sold.

Oh, and you need two actual centre forwards, and we've only got one.

    Oh, and wingers. Not 'forwards'

Nice idea though (if only really in jest)

What is the point of all these complicated systems anyway? lol

Goalkeepers are now supposed to be playmakers. Wingers are now forwards. Strikers now need to become defenders.

I get it, but fk me!!

    4 4 2 antiquated apparently!

Really, we should play 4 3 3 wth the players we have. Especially that midfield trio. Plus, we no longer need to 'protect' our centre halves, surely? Varane and Martinez are good enough as a pair. If we were going to stick with 4 2 3 1, then we could have just kept Fred alongside Casemiro and saved us some money.

However, the only people whose money is being saved is the Glazers, so I'd much rather it was spent.

In answer to your earlier question, I honestly think we should expect to beat Nottingham Forest with this...

    ---------------------Onana
    AWB-------Varane-----Lisandro-----Shaw
    --------------------Casemiro
    Antony-----Bruno-------Mount---Rashford
    -----------------------Hojlund

    Can easily adapt to a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1.

I am taking into account the opposition here. If we can't beat Nott Forest with this line up we really have problems but I expect we will.

I fully expect a 1 2 3 4 5 against Forest with us putting out our best 8 man midfield, Onana as sweeper, Hojland in goal.
