The end of Northern Rock?

So the Govt has sold Northern Rock to Virgin money. I'm no business brain so does this mean the end of the Northern Rock name and therefore the end of our shirt sponsor?

Would it change to Virgin Money in light of the buyout or will Fat Mike say "I'll tell you what now they've gone I'll put S***Direct on the shirts till the end of the season"

All part of Mikes plan to write Sports Direct over every inch of the North East of England?

 

I think Virgin are going to maintain the Northern Rock brand from what I've been reading.

 

Well the Northern Rock sponsorship deal will end in January anyway, so it's certain that we won't have them on our shirts for much longer.

I've been trying to read up about whether they're going to be rebranded as Virgin Money. Articles from a few years ago suggests that was the original plan, but I can't find anything more recent about it.

 

It would make sense to rebrand

partly as Northern Rock has bad thoughts for many and partly as virgin is very much a brand - prob something like virgin money (which already exists)

 

I thought the sponsorship ended at the end of the season? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-15699182 seems to suggest that it ends at the end of the season.

 

I'm sure that article used to say it would end in January 2012. Perhaps they misunderstood and it will be the end of the season.
