One of my favourite things about watching women’s football is how little of the cynical stuff from men’s football is there…. The rolling around injured, the time wasting etc But then this Spain team turn up
Well done Spain, well played and deserved. Calm and composed while we went for hoofball all day, that team will have huge regrets they really didn’t do themselves any justice today. I think Spain had the far better team on paper to be fair and I would have had them as favourites, however I expected Englands prior final experience to add some critical composure. We looked absolutely blinded by the occasion and honestly slightly unprepared, I have no idea what the plan was supposed to be today, looked like Mike Bassett tactics. BBC commentary winding me up with the ‘so unlucky’ ****e. We were second best by miles, all credit for everything they have achieved to this point but I think there needs to be a more critical eye on this performances if we are to take the next step.
These ref comments are pathetic bitter **** by the way. The ref didn’t have a good game, but we were so so poor that it is an irrelevance. We were well beaten regardless and deserved nothing from that. Don’t make excuses.
Spain have been the best team I've seen at this tournament. It's not so much England played poorly more that Spain were an all round better team.
Fantastic tournament and a decent final to see it off. Probably hard to appreciate for you but the media reporting that football has finally eclipsed rugby in New Zealand as an attraction is a big deal. Biggest crowds of any sporting event this year I believe and that was just the group stages. It been huge for the game over here gender not even considered. Hopefully the fifa money flows thru to grassroots to grow the game
Awful attempt to turn that around. Criticism of the referee is fair. Doesn’t mean Spain didn’t deserve to win.
For me the referee was weak. She was good at dealing with obvious fouls (except when Lauren James was hacked down on the edge of the area) but could not handle subtle gamesmanship. That is not World Cup Final refereeing. Failing to book that forward - who then dominated us for 15 minutes - DID have an impact on the game. I expect better.
I didn’t say criticism of the ref wasn’t fair, but you deflected criticism of Englands performance by pointing at the ref. I disagreed and you have a pop at me claiming I’m somehow anti discussion? I’m not I just don’t agree with the angle you went with…. Otherwise known as discussion. The ref was poor, but she didn’t decide the result.

Not really I thought it was a poor opinion and fair enough if Loading doesn’t agree, I just thought it was an odd response as I wasn’t hampering discussion and felt the same could be applied back to the comment itself. Anyway we will probably end up going down a rabbit hole here, sorry if I was too blunt but my opinion is still the same, feel free to be as critical of me as you like, but I will respond when criticised, as you will if you feel I have been critical too.
