I think someone said on here or it was a pundit, (I apologise if it was someone on here), that Martin's style of play, keeping a team chasing around for possession would probably lead to late goals as players tire near the end from fruitless chasing. Seems like it might be true.
Absolutely love this bloke. Tells it how it is, whilst protecting his players & calling out bad performances. Such a breath of fresh air
Yeah that was what he said, they showed full commitment despite their futures being up in the air. The question was more who are the “3 or 4” he was talking about
Hopefully the fact that we’ve started strongly might help to encourage them to stay. Likewise it should help our case with any potential incomings.
- It must be the first season in a long time that we've got inswinging corners coming in from the left as well as the right. I get a feeling this is the most dangerous type of corner, since it must be harder for a right-handed keeper to punch clear. - On Charles, brilliant debut for a teenager. But not MotM for me (Adarma deserved it more). There were just a few too many occasions when Charles lunged in and missed his tackle, which left a big space behind him. Literally the only negative I saw in his performance though. - Tella, is he right or left footed? Nice having a player who isn't afraid to shoot with either foot.
For Charles - On the radio it said he went up for a corner and just tried to punch the ball in the net, earning the easiest yellow card ever quite early in the game. Giving himself a tightrope to walk as a defensive midfielder Sounds like a negative but on the flip side it is very positive that he saw the rest of the game out. When I heard yellows for him and Stu I just assumed we’d be getting a midfield red card based on what was being said pre game about Plymouth breaking with lots of pace
Blimey the fixture computer hated us for September didn’t it? Some long trips and all tough games But a strong run would put us in a very good place and have the benefit of taking points off of potential promotion / play off rivals
Re: the handball. His shirt was pulled quite clearly as he jumped for that one. So the arms out was a bit of a reflex, rather than an attempt to punch the ball.
Yeah September very tough. It's why I said last week that I think by mid October we'll have a good idea of where we are.
There was only the vaguest suggestion of a push on the radio but I’ll put that down to them being far away by all accounts and only seeing it once.
If it was a Premier League game, VAR would have 'had a look'. Definite shirt pull. Still not a pen in my book as it didn't impede Charles that much, but still, you see them given sometimes.
8.55 onwards for the noise only an away crowd can make for a 94th minute winner! Watch to the end for a fantastic rendition of wash your mouth out son....
Shame they didn't capture the chant of, to the tune of "Oh when the Saints go marching in", "I've got a shed that's bigger than this".
