Not far away from the World Cup now. I looked and I think all of England's group games are at the weekend which is good. The first game against Argentina is going to be really tough. They used to be at Italy level or maybe a bit better. Now they can be considered a top team. Not as good as France/Ireland/NZ but in the level below with England/Aussies/Scotland/Wales who are all capable of beating each other.
No surprises in the Women's 10,000 m.at the World Championships! A clean sweep.of the podium positions for Ethiopia!!
Oblique Seville, the fastest so far in the 100m with a 9.84. With a name like that, he deserves the gold medal.
Good win for Ireland! If they win this tournament, they have to be Team.of the Year! Having said that, the French, South África and New Zealand will have other ideas
I’d call it a pretty big surprise that Hassan didn’t medal, especially as she was metres away from gold!
Tough for her that her technique or a push let her down. Tomorrow the 100 m. I Will be surprised if anyone gets within 0.2 seconds of Bolt's record.
Are you ready to put your head on the chopping block RSS? Gold Oblique, Silver Lyles, Bronze Hughes!!
I didn’t see the heats so no idea who’s looking strongest based on that! I’ll go Lyles Gold, Omanyala Silver, Kerley Bronze
In keeping consistent, surely the rugby is a ‘general’ sport, in the same way transfer thread is for all transfers. Not separate threads there so would have thought you’d keep it consistent.
This is a World Cup and I feel there is sufficient interest among many who.post here to have a special.thread. And it is only until.the beginning of Noviembre! PS Formula 1 merits it's own thread on this board as there is enormous interest on this board. Otherwise, when I make a comment about athletics, it is difficult to pick out due ti the plethora of comments relating to F1. As a compromise take F1 out of General Sports and let it have its own thread.
Loved how you could see her confidence grow over the two days and one of her biggest performances was in one of her poorest events, the javelin. Then that 800m was so gritty to stay within those 3 seconds of Hall. So happy for her.
Brilliant from Noah Lyles to win gold! Now for the 200m!! He oozes charisma as well as talent and intelligence. PS Hughes should be vey happy with his Bronze, 9.88!!
I listened to oñe of Asafa Powell's podcasts in which he interviewed Noah Lyles in which they discussed many issues related to athletics. Lyles reckons that if an elite athlete pays attention to the preparation ( physical, mental and health) involved he or she could perhaps have an 8 or 10 year career. In the discussion, Lyles discussed the way some athletes drop-off after a success due to their lack of willingness to invest in themselves. Perhaps this is the case with Kerley. And before people get too critical about Team GB's performance, the answer is that track and field is under-funded.For me, track and field, along with gymnastics and swimming are the most important sports to teach children due to the skill and mindset involved.
While I don't rate his time as an F1 driver that highly, I do appreciate that Valtteri falls into the category of maniacs who, if they weren't racing F1, would be racing sports cars or lawn mowers or literally anything else a person might be allowed to race. https://jalopnik.com/valtteri-bottas-made-the-top-20-in-this-grueling-100-mi-1850762927
Keep the Faith! Still the Queen of the 1500m.track. Hope all.thr runners in the men's 1500 m.csn all go under 3.30.. Ingebregsten id capsble of detting a new world record in this event, banda I hope he does it.
