I do think this side is close to being really good.

A couple of wingers and another midfielder and I think we could have something interesting on our hands.

I was impressed by how we took the game to Blackburn today. They are a good side with some good players. We maybe should have scored earlier and taken advantage of the extre man more, but I also think the team isn't quite as Rosie would want it yet. Lets see what happens after the transfer window closes, but its a decent start to the season, with only a couple of injury time goals stopping us from being undefeated.

I've come on this forum absolutely buzzing after a fantastic day out and can't believe some miserable ****s are moaning. We started the game brilliantly and were far the better team 11v11. We probably struggled to adapt for the rest of the half after the red, but came out firing after HT. We created several good chances, which is never easy against 10. We got hit on the counter, it can happen to anyone.

We again showed great character to come from behind and hung on well at the end, when all shape and tactics had gone out the window with so many attacking players on the pitch.

Luton. 3 competitive league away fixtures ago away at a side which went and won the playoffs.

3 clean seats in our last 6 at the end of last season.

Weren't scoring much but picked up points all the same.

Now we're scoring more were a bit more open as a result.

If we can get the best of both worlds then it could be a very good season indeed. .

So we agree then. Why the **** are you arguing?

To be clear, including friendlies, we haven’t kept a clean sheet in about ten games. That’s ok and, to quote Liam, it’s all part of the process, but to pretend it’s not something that needs fixing just to win an argument on a message board is nuts.

    Wasn't aware I was arguing...

.. But friendlies mean **** all, always have and always will cos they aren't competitive games.

    Just replying with an opinion.

Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?

Maybe it's the way you put it.

Look mate, good win stuff to be happy with, stuff to work on. No ones getting sacked in the morning and we don't have ****s for owners.

Now let's smash brizzle on Friday and **** off Nige (a bloke so obsessed with clean sheets he ****s with a hat on) with a ****ing clean sheet whilst we're at it.

Oh I agree he doesn't stop working hard which is fantastic, but I just find that when we are going through the motions a bit, as captain he doesn't seem to do much to rally the troops and get them firing. He needs to be the catalyst for our success on the field, not the opposition scoring a goal.

Coyle really has surprised me with how quiet he can be when he’s on the pitch. I assumed because of his family and his connections to the city he might be more vocal, but he’s definitely not that.

Not sure I see it from the same perspective mate. But each to their own.

He's keeping Christie out on merit at the moment and is obviously a leader.

Yeah I wouldn't drop him, I think his delivery is better than Christie's as well, but fair enough.

You can’t expect us to be perfect every game, most importantly we won and so far there’s been an improvement on Doncaster in both games, let’s celebrate the win! UTT!

They hardly cut through us at will, we had a 5-10 minute spell where they shell shocked us and caught us all at sea and really upped the intensity. That also meant they came out of their shell and in doing so finally left some space for us to exploit, which we did with aplomb, and then returned the favour with 2 really well crafted goals.

This is literally the polar opposite to how I would describe us. Far too slow, methodical and one dimensional in attack, almost scared to be open at the back. But generally pretty tight defensively.

Over the course of the 90 minutes they were barely able to string 2 passes together we had shut them out so well. They had a spell as every team does at some point in every game, and to be fair we had probably got a bit complacent such was our dominance, it probably took us by surprise and we didn’t handle it well, which invited them to go for the jugular and they went for it. But that then gave us the opportunity to hit them back as they finally pushed forwards further than their 18 yard box and gave us some space to work with.

Incidentally, Bristol were piss poor today. The boos as the second Brum goal went in were audible. They didn’t even manage a shot on target today and their main centre half will be suspended after getting a second yellow card today.
There’s never a bad time to break out the “we saw you crying” chant, might as well be while we’re smashing these bastards.

He’s a proper old school defender, got a great cross on him, but the type that arrives late and drops a Bobby dazzler under no pressure. He’s not an attacking full back and I think playing Traore ahead of him just highlights his limitations and makes him look worse in a game like today where his defensive contributions are few and far between.

He has not the pace, the technique nor the natural inclination to run at defenders or into the box and cause problems, which is really what you need your full back to do if you’re going to play a central midfielder in front of him who looks to play slowly and cut infield constantly.
