We could and should have scored a couple in the first 10 minutes. Apart from a short period on top in the second half, we were comfortable.

Was at the game today. Great result. Delap, Connolly and Twine standout players. Blackburn were a good team. Only downside was the sheer pedestrianism of the team for long periods. There’s a huge difference in the perception of pace between watching it on a screen and watching it “ live.” When Blackburn went down to 10 and set themselves up differently we were crying out for two pacy wingers, hopefully that will be addressed in the next two weeks. The reason we are so slow when playing out from the back is the lack of movement from the players in front of the defence. It’s like watching statues for long periods during the game.A win is a win though, onwards to Friday.

I don't disagree but who are we capable of getting? I keep hearing people mention that we need a defensive midfielder (which we do) but I'm yet to hear anyone say realistically who we could bring in domestically that improves us.

Nah, I was there at the final whistle. You must have been watching blindfolded.

Maybe if he hadn't he'd have mis-timed it?

That's the thing about football. It's not like other sports where generally speaking the better sides on the day win. There's much more of a random element, as much as we try to dissuade ourselves from it.

Their keeper made 3 cracking saves in the game before they scored.

If Greaves had one of the 2 corners he met on target: one of Ozan's or delaps beat the keeper or one of Twines 2 FKs had been on the money it would have saved the heart in mouth ending - but that was the most exciting bit.

If that tackle from Macca hadn't fallen beautifully for Gallagher then there wouldn't be that nervy finish...

... there's always that narrative of 'on the day' in football and it's why I ****ing love it!

You can be under the cosh and win, or be dominant and lose.

That's football and why it only really matters in the context of 46 games.

Sometimes with the focus on micro-analysis in the modern era it's easy to lose sight of that.

The game we love has a massive random element inherently involved in it. And it wouldn't be the same without it.

That's the million dollar question. Which unfortunately I can't answer and also one most teams in the division would love to be able to answer.

The most cost effective way would be from overseas but it defeats the whole object of bringing in that championship experience ( you could get lucky though and bring in a worldie cheap )

I still maintain that the most similar league to ours (The Championship) is the Eredivise. The Dutch have a history of producing very good, hard tackling midfielders and with the exception of the big 3, there are a lot of teams that set up with a nasty bastard in midfield. Perhaps because without one, Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord would just roll over them.
Luuk Brouwers, Dirk Proper and Carel Eiting would all offer us some bite in midfield. Eiting played two seasons in the Championship for Huddersfield as well.

Sorry, I don’t understand, the three T’s have 90 international caps and nearly 600 appearances between them?

I expected Coyle to do better today after his fantastic performance against Wednesday. I don’t doubt his commitment and his energy, but I do hope he can find some consistency and this good-not good-good-crap pattern emerging isn’t a sign of his limitations at this level.

So you never felt that we were wide open to the counterattack? Even against Donny and the Massive it was obvious that there’s an issue in transition for this team. This isn’t being negative but there’s been an ongoing debate on this board about the lack of an Ashbee type in midfield. When was the last time kept a clean sheet, including all the preseason friendlies? If you don’t agree with me that’s fine, but to say we didn’t look fragile is just wrong imho.

Most opposition teams have chances. Especially when one team is chasing the game. That’s how actual on-pitch football works.

Whilst last week overshadowed his performance this week in an attacking sense he put in a hell of a shift today. Was in a few folks top 3 so there's no 'pattern' emerging for me.

There have been plenty of clean sheets in Roseys tenure, just it was perceived as boring and not attacking enough.

Now we have a scoring record of 2+ per game in the league and conceding 1+ then we're bemoaning clean sheets.

Coach cant ****ing win, can he?

I agree we should have been at least two up before the sending off. What’s that got to do with my point?
