Great to see us trying to play football at last. Brilliant to see us keep attacking when we are winning too. And I am struggling to remember the last time we played two very watchable games back to back. Ange is delivering enjoyable football so I hope we don't get too carried away as fans and give him a chance like we did with Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino.
I don't know how to check but I am pretty certain that was the most expensive team we've ever fielded....but the Man Utd XI still cost more.
One thing that has to be said about today, which seems to have really annoyed Roy Keant, is we did something that we haven't done in quite some time: show Man Utd no respect Rather than take to the pitch thinking about how they will play and effectively tossing aside our gameplan as a result, instead we took to the pitch saying how would play and we took the game to them because of it - and, bloody hell, did they not like it. Compare that to how Conte, Nuno and (with the obvious exception of one match...) the ubermensch setting up in a way that often played into their hands and almost made Solskjaer look competent on a few occasions, and what did they have in return? A couple of salty pundits
Tanguay, take a seat. We may have found the perfect role for you. Oh that, it's just a circular saw, no need to be concerned...
One thing I would say today is that alongside good performances by our our players, Michael Oliver had a good game too.
It should be said because he has had lots of criticism on this board. I think the referees performances are more to do with FA instructions than their own abilities or lack of them.
Unfortunately, "just a precaution" in the context of Spurs players usually means 3 months out injured, return to training for a few weeks, still feel pain, surgery, out for the season.
Saw up to Sarr's goal and then caught the highlights later on. Buzzing for Pape, he's gonna be such a problem when he matures as a player, unreal talent. Bissouma quality yet again too, what Conte done to him should be considered a war crime. Maddison everything we've wanted/ needed in a creative mid, so nice seeing a midfield control a game and to think we've still got Bentancur to come back too. Udogie's early promise/ signs is giving belief we finally have an Ekotto/ Rose heir as well. Big Ange getting that BBQ lit already, gonna be a fun ride with this guy, fully on board with him. Also, just had a call from my Producer, season 6 of DH AwayDays has been commissioned, buzzing! First episode to be released soon
There's plenty to discuss, but I'm just going to be positive and enjoy this. It's great to see us trying to play some football and the atmosphere reflected that. Absolutely deafening at times and it was wonderful.
You played well today (sorry yesterday now ) and were entertaing to watch from any point of view. We will beat you at OT
I agree he’s a nuisance. And when he was subbed you could see what he’d been offering. But I just think this system will frustrate him and he’s gonna struggle to score, which is the exact thing he needs. - our defensive based players look more like getting involved with goals/assists than him. anyhoo, how poor were United? I was expecting to see an improvement on last year, but they were appalling. Is it just a case of them not clicking due to it being the start of the season? Or has Ten Haag been found out? We’re a team literally still in an experimental stage with new defenders, midfielders, and the loss of one of the worlds best strikers. And we made them look like a Sunday league side.
The balance of the side is wrong. I think that also applies to their squad. Strange not to make changes after their awful performance against Wolves. Mount and Fernandes both want to play the same role. It leaves Casemiro with too much to do and if you beat him, then they're in trouble. Their wingers were very disappointing too and Rashford's out of position. A genuine striker and a proper central midfielder would help massively. Fred got a lot of stick, but at least he knew how to play the position. Utd have plenty of good players, but they're not evenly spread. They've got a lot in some positions and none in others.
Like the one ten Hag is whinging about not getting yesterday Oddly silent on Fernandez's body checking Romero in their area, though...
