Always thought a World Cup win would move some of the BBC ex England underachievers along like Lineker and Shearer and a new guard of winners would graduate into their shoes so where will a Women's World Cup win leave underachievers Alex Scott, Fara Williams etc?

The Prince of Wales has apologised for not flying to Australia to watch England in the Women's World Cup final as he wished the team good luck.

In a video message with Princess Charlotte, who is holding a football, he said they were "so proud" of the Lionesses.

Prince William, who is president of the Football Association, has been criticised by some for not attending.

Rishi Sunak is also not attending Sunday's final against Spain in Sydney.

In the message posted on social media, Prince William said: "Lionesses, I want to send you a huge good luck for tomorrow, we're sorry we can't be there in person but we're so proud of everything you've achieved and the millions you've inspired here and around the world.

"So go out there tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves."

Princess Charlotte - who recorded a similar video message with her father ahead of the 2022 European Championships final - ended the video by saying: "Good luck Lionesses."

Why is it that none of them can go? (Sunak included)
What is it they’re busy with?

Regardless of travel, which they can all get at the drop of a hat anyway, I was just asking what Prince William & Sunak particularly have in their diaries that stops them going.
Genuine question as I’ve not heard that’s all

Could she do it with an unfitted square sheet on a cold, wet, windy night in Stoke though?

Difficult time with the republicanism issue over there - probably the end for the royals in Australia soon. Probably don't want to inflame the protests or ignite the issue further.

Imagine with Sunak that it's the time - 4 days gone for a football match.

They didn't go to the netball world cup final that England were in, nor I believe the under 15's and under 17's world cup finals when England where in them.

They can't go to everything or it devalues it anyway.

As they're heads of the UK not just England, should they go to the other home nation events too?
