    Well said

I see a lot of people, mostly on social media, saying we lack ambition because we dont spend money. Spending money doesnt make you ambitious imo, it can be foolish just spending money for the sake of it

As soon as you start over spending on fees n wages then clubs will drive their prices up

I get folks concerns about a lack of striker, thats totally fair as we all are

What i dont get is this 'just sign an experienced championship striker', not many teams have been able to sign an experienced championship striker this summer. Simms is probably the closest thing to an experienced championship striker, that would fit our style of play n he cost 8 million. Ashley barnes was a free but apparently on huge wages so not realistic imo

The club have shown ambition by going against the norm and following a process which they believe will give us long term success. Therell be bumps in the road for sure, there always is as thats football for you

Heres hoping by 5pm we have 3 points on the board n everythings looking upwards

I find it difficult on the experience bit as we have tried it before with other players I mean we had an experienced championship striker in league 1 and he was not even up to that I don't think it's just about experience but about getting somebody who still has a hunger to achieve don't care on his age or what league they have played in. Like I said earlier do you want a Danny Graham who had no drive left in him or another Will grigg or should we be looking for somebody like Aiden O brien. Like before which kind of player would you like us to sign. We have picked up 2 highly rated young strikers who will need a bit of time to adapt and like any signings they may work or they may not but at least they seem young and hungry and we will give them a chance to play.
Let's see how they progress this season and stop hammering them and the club because you think finding experienced strikers who will score 20 goals a season for 3 or 4 million is easy.
I have said before could anybody asking for an experienced striker name one we could realistically sign and have not seen one name mentioned yet ???

Good point, plus we may find PL & other top European league clubs hanging on to a few extra players as Saudi league transfer window is open for another month after European closes....im sure the Saudis would quote happily like throwing a spanner in the works of a few & take players post window closing

Yates, Nisbet, Maja, Healey all fairly experienced and have transferred to other championship clubs 2 of whom were on free transfers.

Hirst and Whittaker both younger players who look promising and went for less than £2m to newly promoted clubs.

when fans say sign an established championship striker i don't think the realise how much the actually cost , anywhere between 10-20m now

archer has scored about 20 goals in the championship, and villa want about 20m

akpom been terrible, his first good season last season 12m

simms played 17 games in championship for us went for a deal worth 8m

cannon played half a season Everton want 8m

sadly the only teams playing them fees is teams who have sold players or teams who have parachute payments

no one else in the championship is doing it,

that's the reason the club is shopping over seas nothing to do with 'ambition'

Other than losing Diallo , who had he not been injured would have been back have we taken 2 steps back, other than Michut who in the end wasn't getting a start out of everyone you mentioned 3 were out on loan and the other was lucky if he play half an hour since he arrived.
If its true the club are after 2 strikers and a cdm with Stewart due back what else do you want them to do

Problem is mate the ones complaining about lack of signings haven't got that to look forward to as they are probably the ones that won't be there today or the majority of the season

I complain at times, its human nature, but all that matters today is the lads, 3 points and a good day in great company

As a guess part of the conundrum is Stewart's contract/fitness.

An experienced striker, who wants first team football, may wonder what will happen if Stewart comes back firing and signs a new contract ...

... from our point of view we'd have a highly paid sub, sitting alongside the two young lads.

A loan might be the best, and only, option.

This. Even Archer and Simms aren’t exactly established in the championship, they’ve both had one good HALF season and in Archers case Boro were scoring for fun which propped his numbers up. Which is why I thought a loan fee for Cannon would’ve suited us down to the ground, similar numbers to Archer but without the massive risk of a permanent on a huge fee just yet.

What do people even define as being established in football when it’s the 2nd tier? If you’re still kicking around in the championship after 5+ consecutive years it’s probably because you aren’t good enough to move to a better division. It’s totally different to being established in the PL where you’re at the top of the pyramid. Overseas is definitely the way.

IMO we should be focussing on bilingual nationalities instead of signing players from all over the world who then struggle to communicate ie Diallo being from
IC but speaking French. We have a few players who speak French so that’s where I’d be shopping.

We all did but we can’t moan about not having one then moan about having one or moan about not having one in the past when we do have one

We all complain mate like you say its human nature, I know it's all about opinions just sometimes I can't understand some of the reasoning, I could understand if the window was closed, its just people are trying to make out the club are sitting doing nothing , not trying to sign players. I honestly believe some fans think TM has been asking for certain types of players and letting the recruitment team know what he wants , and their reply is **** off Tony we make the decisions and we are only signing kids.
Yes KS is head of recruitment and its his job to find the right players fo TM . Do fans really not think TM will not have some sort of input, of course he will, he's experienced and the will want his input, however as with any job there will be differences of opinion and different roles, KS job is to recruit the best players he can within a budget , develop those players and sell at a much inflated price, TM job is to get results on the pitch, that is why they signed Dack for no other reason than TM wanted him.
He will push to get KS to sign the most experienced and expensive players he can get him to sign, of course he will it will make his job so much easier.
KS has to also get the balance right, at the end of yhe day if he just signed everyone the manager and fans wanted he'd probably be out of a job by Christmas with his reputation in tatters
