Ok, so neither of you plan to show any support to a new signing who has had literally one game of note?

This must be some record, bravo.

    Proper supporters.

Come on, Chief! We are not slating the player here for the sake of lack of support. We are talking about performances and discussing strategy that is ultimately best for the club. Remember that for every new player, another existing player has to be dropped. Therefore, simply throwing the “support” umbrella over everything is besides the point of trying to figure out what works best for the team.

WTF does what we think matter. My concern is that we needed to reinforce our defence and the midfield, but instead we bought Mount who has been in ****e form since pre -season and for the money we paid we should expect him to hit the ground running, not bed in anytime this side of Christmas. We didn't need him, especially at the expense of the two potential signings who seem to be an obvious upgrade on what we have at the moment - what ****ing madness is that.... buy a player you don't need and, because of that expenditure, not be able to buy two players that we do.................. There are only a couple who have written him off. There's a reason Ten Hag went all out to get Mount so I'm willing to see what plans he has for him. It's crazy to think our problems lie with him, especially after one game.

For those with short memories we played Eriksen with Fred against Brentford start of last season and the way they tore through our midfield was a carbon copy of what happened against Wolves. The problem didn't lie with Eriksen. When he then brought in Casemiro the problem was sorted.

Now someone will point out that Casemiro played against Wolves. Chief says Casemiro looked unfit, I wasn't paying attention. I thought he looked isolated, so I don't know.

But the truth is nobody knows how Mount is going to fit in except the manager. What I think though is that another DM (Amrabat) fits in to the overall plan which includes Mount. McTominay does NOT.

But we have a bunch of leeches at the top who will stop that from happening and no doubt Mount (and Ten Hag) will get the blame if it fcks up bcos of it.

Them's the facts, the rest is pure kafka.

Oh and yes we need a backup CF, but that's pie in the sky if we can't even bring in Amrabat for £25m.

I said I think Casemiro looks fat(ish), which I suppose equates to the same thing.

He needs to trim back down. Won't take long I'm sure.

It shouldn't do. But even then I think ETH sees a more fluid midfield that includes another DM and the likes of Mount, Bruno, Eriksen which will depend tactically on the opposition.

Can't wait for Hojlund to start playing as well btw.

At this moment in time i'm intrigued to see where Mount fits into the team. He can be a very good player but seems to be filling the same space as Bruno too often which needs sorting out.
Casimero will be fine when he drops half a stone in weight but still needs a fast, intelligent player who can cover the space around him (real DM).
When Rasmus starts to play it will be interesting to see who get's benched, will Rashford go wide left and cut down on Garnacho's playing time?
Will Rashord go wide right (killing half his effectiveness) and Antony be benched?

New season, new jigsaw for ETH to piece together, i hope he already has the picture perfect in his head.

I think RH coming in means any combination of players in the midfield and right side. Imo the left side will be far more consistent between Rashford, Sancho, Garnacho.

I can however see Bruno being played in certain games on the right instead of Antony, a lot like last season.

TBH when i was typing that Sancho never entered my thoughts.
We have a lot of cover in the forward positions now (could even play Garnacho on the right in place of Antony).
We are missing that one vital position of real DM, imagine having Carrick alongside Casimero and the team would be sorted.
Not a classic DM to some people because he didn't dive in making tackles to win the ball back. He was a lot more intelligent player who read the game, covered the ground and simply cut balls out to start our own attacks (could tackle when needed but didn't often need to).

    Yeah, he's needed.

Bothers me a lot we've no back up for him, the expectation on him will be a bit much.

Personally think Sancho should start up front tonight, Rashford on the left, Antony on the right.

Garnacho should be an impact sub.

To your first point about Sancho, that is the player that comes to mind when I think of Mount which highlights a problem, especially in the modern game. These days, we seem to buy players without fans really knowing where they will fit in. In the years of Sir Alex, these things were clearer from afar which explains why we bought less number of players, paid the price for players needed, played with less known names like Anderson, Wes Brown, O’Shea, etc, and still wildly successful.

Sancho is a very intelligent player. He should be in the starting 11 in my opinion. But we brought in Antony and Mount for so much money that ultimately cuts his game time, damages him more psychologically because he can’t get coherent minutes and net-net leads to a wasteful cycle.

Ahhhhhh poor little Sancho, he has to compete for his position... who knew?

Bless his cotton socks, I do hope he isn't too upset by that.

I know ppl are going to rage about our results but it's obvious this is going to continue until Hojlund starts playing and equally importantly until another DM comes in. So I wouldn't worry as this is what you should expect.

""We had 30 players on tour who were really fit and disappointment about Amad and disappointment about Kobbie absolutely."
It looks like ETH holds Mainoo in high regard. He's a pretty solid player from what I saw in preseason and videos of him. It could be why we are hesitating to secure a DM from the open market.

Amid should get a shot for that right side alongside Pellistri. Especially if the starting players are consistently underwhelming.

I would also love to see Alvaro Fernandez get some decent time in that left back, especially with Malacia out injured. Shaw has been somewhat static in the last two games in that position.
