Wilcox might, don’t see why Tella would. We binned him off last year as we thought he wasn’t good enough, just because we’ve been relegated I don’t see why he would show any loyalty if a better offer comes along.
People only want Tella to stay because he had a good season for Burnley last season. He hasn't done anything in a Saints shirt that would convince me to turn down decent money for him.
I wouldn't say we binned him off at all, he was loaned out for experience. Which would be extremely valuable right now. But yeah I could see Tella leaving.
I would be happy not to sell anyone else who has featured in a league game this season, thank you very much!
Tella didn't do a huge amount against Norwich TBH. And he's 24 now. He should have reached any potential he had as a youngster already.
My memory of it (though could be mistaken) was that we didn’t think he was going to play much for us/have much of a future with us and with his contract situation let him leave to earn himself a move somewhere else this summer by playing regularly. He’s done that with his performances for Burnley
He was literally in the championship title winning squad last season and got the most goals/assists combined
Read it again Tom. Tella HAS SHOWN he wants to play. He has played and tried hard. Sulemana HAS NOT. He has not not played. We have no idea how he feels about playing. I don't think any of those statements can be argued with. They are simple facts.
Doesn't mean he's a good fit in Martin's system though. Tella played more centrally for Burnley - he's playing out wide here. I'd be happy for him to stay but if someone's willing to pay 18-20mill for him then fine, let him go.
People only want Tella to stay because he was the best player in his position last season... in the league we are now in. That seems a pretty big reason to want someone to stay.
