I was more thinking here in Aus where there have been thousands at live sites and packed pubs. I also think there'd be a few places in England putting the game on in public spaces, but my point was more to counter the "But what about people not watching the game in the same house or what about this or that" that was popping up.

Vaguely remember WC 1970 but when I first saw cruyff in the 74 WC I was mesmerised as were all the kids my age and around that age

who’s to say little 9 year old girls won’t be seeing the players at this World Cup
It’s recognisable it’s tangible for them seeing a female doing it

Wonder if a factor in that decision was that their games all start at or later than 2pm. Clubs might be making their own arrangements to see the final and still turn up to play.

Well he'll not get the sack for losing because his Dad is the Head of the Women's federation in Spain and appointed him.

The Matidas lost 7-0 in a warm up match. To a club team of U15 lads. Those who had reached the pinnacle, beaten by those whose journey is nowhere complete, if only just beginning. I think therein lies the answer to the question of financial equity. Pay seven quid and you can watch Arsenal Ldies. Would you pay 7 quid to watch an U15 lads game? No. How much would you pay to watch them at the pinnacle of their sport?
It is an apple and pears comparison, or, at the same time being two totally different sports governed by the same rules.
The true, the only acid test, the crucible for tomorrows game is....... The Match Thread. here.

Pubs can open whenever they choose, it's when they can start serving alcohol that's the issue. I think a lot of people will go to pubs. Many will be open at 10am serving breakfasts, just no alcohol until 1200. Also Govt has officially recommended all councils to allow alcohol to be served earlier which will encourage even more people to turn out.

You can get alcohol in pubs way before then in the UK.

They shouldn't have to, Hull City Ladies game is sixty miles from Hull, they shouldn't have to mess about trying to find somewhere in Tadcaster to watch the game. It's the first women's World Cup Final that England have ever got to, not making it easy for every women's footballer to watch is just stupid.

I've just seen that the kick-off has now been delayed and they have arranged to watch it in Tadcaster, but it all seems unnecessarily messy.

Most UK pubs can serve alcohol from 11.00am on Sunday and councils have been told they should relax rules on issuing 10.00am licenses on this occasion, I don't think people are going to have difficulty getting a pint.

These women are at the pinnacle of their sport. There is no point in comparing men and women. They can only compete against themselves.

Just enjoy it for what it is.

Guardian article suggesting a big payout for supermarkets, pubs and advertisers. The retail spend figure is estimated to be 137.8 million, total 185 million tothe local economy. Wow, impressive. Until you reach the bottom of the article-
"However, UK consumer spend is not expected to match the levels seen in December when England reached the quarter-finals of the men’s World Cup in Qatar, which gave a £1.8bn boost to the economy."

I would suggest on those figures, financial parity is a long way off. And also the netorks and advertisers payments to FIFA were correct. Here in the UK alone that is.

Agree, why I said apples and pears. And more importantly, two different sports played under the same set of rules. I will watch and hopefully my enjoyment turns to delight with a win. Will I go and watch City Ladies next home game? No.

The Matidas lost 7-0 in a warm up match.

What you say here also highlights how all this WOKE nonsense allowing men who suddenly decide they are a woman to compete against them and wipe the floor with them.

I don’t see it as two sports though. It’s football, it’s the same game.

The Australia v England game was the best I’ve seen in ages. I don’t really understand why people have to always draw the comparisons to be honest.

As you mention it, what would the Womens World Cup be reduced to if a team of U15 lads identified as women and entered? Or half the team? Or the spine of the team, as I belive it is called?

I'd guess most sides will be making similar arrangements. Seems messy but I don't know how messy it is to rearrange all the fixtures, especially given most players will have other commitments.
