No we don't. Having to sell to buy was back under the Gao regime when he couldn't invest anything into the club.

Agreed, we have to sell because our squad is huge.
The only thing we need to be mindful of is wages.
Aslong as we bring in 2 CMs and 1 CB I'll be happy based on what we have now.

According to Dean Jones (whoever that is) we are supposedly looking at adding 2 players including Downes

    Hopefully it's Harwood-Bellis, Downes & Grimes.

Not financially, but our squad is still bloated, three left backs, six wingers, four strikers

Well that would be 3, not 2

I imagine that is if there are no more outs, if/when KWP, ABK and Adams go you would think we would be signing replacements for them, possibly Sulemana as well though we seem pretty set on the wings

Your last sentence is my stance completely. I'm sure the Club's management will handle these next couple of weeks or so in the best interest of The Saints. Judging from what I watched on Saturday the players on the park were on board with how they see things, even when we lose some, players looking for a route to the PL will be surely tempted to join the squad.

They are well-run, but part of being well-run is that you have to make these decisions before they make themselves. Dortmund's accounts as of their last set of books are very good, but a combination of the pandemic/two relatively early exits from CL (Group Stage and then 1st Knockout Round, and Bayern going out in the QFs both years also reduces the share for German teams somewhat) has reduced their turnover a bit.

Dortmund's very careful about managing their finances given their history...they would have gone bankrupt if one of their rivals hadn't loaned them the money to stay afloat, which was a great flex masked as philanthropy by Bayern.

In terms of squad size and players suitable for the new project. Rather than a pressing financial need.

My unpopular opinion: Che is not that good and I think it would be a bit of a giggle if he were sold.

I'm confident in him producing at the Championship level, significantly more so than our other striker options. That said, getting something approaching £15m for him entering his final season would be very good business, provided that we acquire someone like Piroe to replace him. I'm still really dubious that Adam Armstrong is reliable enough for be our primary goalscoring threat.

Will obviously be very upset if Che goes. More so than Prowsey. I know his numbers aren't great but if he was penalty taker then they would look a lot healthier for a Premier League striker.

Regardless, he is quite obviously a Prem-level player, and in both games so far he has come on and helped earn us points. He's coming into the prime age for a striker now as well. Plus he's another experienced head for the youngsters to learn from. Think he'll be a massive loss. Only Piroe (of all the rumours) that I'd be satisfied to replace him with, but I think Swansea might want to bend us over for that one, it being so close to the deadline now (plus recent history).

If we held on to Che, we'd still get 8-10m for him in the winter from some desperate relegation-threatened team.

If it were 15m for AA I’d bite that hand off and keep Che to leave on a free rather than offload. Selling Che puts pressure to find a new main striker who will hit the ground running. We’ve proven pretty piss poor at that recently.

Must have the same agent as Maitland-Niles.

He's already proved he's going to do well in the Championship, would be utter madness to get rid of him, especially with SR's track record of recruiting strikers.

Said it many times before but we will be better off keeping Che and losing him for free at the end of the season with the goals he will score in this league.
