I mean you get 5 subs so if he was that worried why didn't he make more than 1 sub in the 85th min replacing a player who's unlikely to start this weekend?? Half expecting Pep to start players like Phillips and Alvarez up top in place of Haarland and then use last nights as an excuse if they don't win. Stones out, Dias still coming back from concussion, Laporte potential on his way to Saudi - even their defence is looking stretched and that's with KDB out and Bernardo didn't even travel to Sevilla.
I wish I could believe we had a chance. 2-0 loss. We'll feel like we're in with a chance but ultimately with ten minutes to go we'll be two behind and unable to get hold of the ball to threaten with it.
People are taking the piss out of Pearce for making a bold and probably wrong prediction, however if he'd picked Chelsea or Liverpool nobody would despite them being demonstrably worse football teams the last year. Essentially it's OK to pick successful clubs but hilarious to even suggest smaller clubs with better teams could win something. Newcastle winning the league isn't something I'd pick but why not ? if not City why not Newcastle? People seem to think Newcastle were lucky but the truth is they're one of the best football teams in this country.
