I have a genuine issue with them, I really do think they've had a massive contribution in shaping the mentality of a sizeable proportion of our fans and it's not pretty. This constant, unwarranted, conspiratorial deep seeded suspicion and distrust of those in a position of authority at SAFC is unhealthy and creates so much negativity.

I understand why it has come about but it's coming to the point that it is problematic (to me at least) and could genuinely be damaging to the club's future.

A lad I know used to do a lot with them and he’s sound. Does the PA in the ground sometimes as well.

WMS never used to be so negative. I’m not sure what’s gone on there.

Fairly sure it was two separate things that Phil Smith was saying, that the search for a striker goes on then, as a separate, not necessarily related point, we will be using the loan market before the end of the window.

Fact is the only one is injured, and hasn't signed a contract. Have to hope things change, but had several windows without managing to sign one now.
    I like a good moan, it's cathartic.

But when someone’s injured ya don’t just start replacing them man! It’s not just Sunderland that are struggling to find strikers there’s every other team in the world so it would seem.

That's a very fair point. Trouble was he was surrounded by pillocks who actually ran the club.

“Throwing big boys money” around will get you fecked financially, what if we were propped up by a billionaire and what would happen if that billionaire grows disillusioned?

isn’t it better to grow a club to be self sustaining so that if KLD did decide to sell up its much more attractive to buyers than a club in debt.

So you’d rather that then home grown players etc tho? We go the route you want you never get any passion or home grown players. That’s not my idea of football and supporting Sunderland.

I was going to slate the financial guy on WMS at this point for being ultra-negative. While searching for his name, I found this May ‘23 article about our 21/22 accounts which has some interesting bits in it actually:

    https://wisemensay.co.uk/sunderland-afc-2021-22-financial-results-an-analysis/

I’m sure they are lads fans but they express it in a vastly different way to most of us. Seems like they have an idealised view of the club in their heads and take apart anything that falls short of it.

I just don't think we'll have the patience for it overall. The model only works if we're selling our best, most reputable players for big money and using the money to strengthen the overall squad. Which I personally don't have a problem with. Likes of Clarke, Neil etc will inevitably have to be sold. But then you'll get fans fuming about selling our assets, and how are we ever going to progress if we sell all our best players.
We've obviously reached a limit now whereby we can't bring anymore in, permanently, without players going.

I agree it’ll take time and we do have an impatient fan base, once we sell one and improve the squad I think people will begin to relax and ‘trust the process’ this model is still in its very early stages and alien to us, I bet Brentford fans were seething when they sold maupay, we’ve been a mess for years there’s no quick fix for us I don’t think

I agree with the majority of that. I wasn't saying its what should happen, it was just my opinion that to be properly successful, ie, challenging Europe etc, the current model will takes years and years to work, if at all. But if we have downs, like a little bit of what we have now, without proven strikers and a few defeats on the trot it'll be questioned.
