Yeah, that's a slight concern for me.

I don't know where you guys hear all about people's characters. I did a bit of research and Djed apparently has a good attitude to training.

Definitely wasn’t suggesting that & no clubs use 100%of their player profit on new players sales (outside of the obvious). I’ve said before we need a couple of experienced, match ready players. Still stand by that. Charles was great Saturday but if he’s going to be one of the first then likely he’ll get burn out, injuries. Downes yep but that’s a loan. I’m taking about players who can impact in the PL next year, when hopefully we go up. If we go up with a makeshift squad, we’ll struggle massively if we progress. But maybe that SR’s plan. Recoup the previous losses, use what we have & see. Said before & that’s what I think they’ll do.

SR seemed prepared to sanction 35m bids for Gakpo and Ramos last summer. It’s not out of the question that should we go up there would be heavy investment. Especially if we manage it without heavy spending this year. The challenge is bringing in players who want to come now and will be good enough for the premier league “IF” we get there. And there is no guarantee of that.

Our own experiences with the likes of Tella are kind of evidence of this. Tore the championship to pieces and so far the club he did this for will not even offer a reasonable fee for him and no one else is interested. Forest signed a whole new team as what got them promoted wasn’t good enough. In our main weak area of striker - who are we going to sign permanently who will join now and then be good enough for the premier league? There aren’t many and it would be a gamble. Make shift isn’t necessarily the worst way to go if by that you actually mean sensible loans of players with a track record of being good enough for this division with options and young players who are likely to be good enough for this division with scope to improve and become good enough for the premier league

Look at our strikers - both had very good records in the championship and we paid in the region of 15m for both and premier league wages. And neither could really cut it. And we were in the premier league when we tempted them into signing …

Definitely no guarantees with anything. The windows not closed & im pretty sure we’ll lose a few more of our best players. That’s going to weaken us, especially w/o quality coming in. All conjecture & I suppose a waste of time discussing now unit the doors shut & we know where we are.

Guess it depends on what you are comparing to when you say weaken us. And if you assume no replacements - which for key players is a truly baffling assumption.

But the likes of Sulemana going? Weakens is on paper - but hasn’t done anything at all and is apparently not motivated to put his talents to tearing up the division in a way people are assuming he would.

We’ve lost one player from the team that started the season with a replacement on the way. And if any of that team are sold i think it is safe to say a replacement will come in. There is almost no indication that if we sold Adams and KWP that their replacements will simply be Mara and Bree and everyone else moves one step up the line

Some will go with no one coming in. But they would be surplus like Aribo

Surely we paid in instalments. Either 3 or 4. Just cancel the remaining ones for starters. We will take the first one as a loss. If he wants to return it is up to him to compromise on his wages. No one expects his to go back to his Genk wages but he could. Or at least close to them

As to the other guy - not the biggest hole in the squad and we have been burnt to too many times on attackers straight from the Belgian league

Get it done Saints. We won’t get our money back on this one but you win some you lose some.

How much did they sell Bellingham for last year and Haaland a year earlier for?
No way that they can't afford ABK.

We definitely still need to sell before we buy again. Midfield seems like it’s set once Downes arrives.

    Downes
    Charles
    Smallbone
    Charly
    S.Armstrong
    Doyle

not all combinations of those six will work, but this is how I see us set for options in midfield, providing we don’t get any crazy offers.

    CB - depends on ABK
    RB - depends on KWP
    ST - depends on Adams
WNG - Think would take two to go before we look
