Just announced his death at 88, as a chat show host he hasn't been beaten, liked his cricket antidotes as well, RIP Parky lad.
One of those who feels like he's been around forever and you assume he'll stay around forever. Bad times. RIP Parky
I have to be honest, I never liked him one bit .. ... but at least he was a character, especially compared to the bland people we generally have now. RIP.
Part of the furniture growing up in 70s Love him or hate him. Absolutely iconic interviews. Ali Billy Connolly. Oliver Reed. Part of a lot of peoples lives RIP
Fond memories as a kid growing up watching parky, Rod Hull/Emu, really down to earth honest bloke. RIP.
I used to love watching Parkinson back in the day - in those days he'd get the celebs to tell anecdotes about their lives and careers - these days celeb interviews are all about pushing their latest book or film and you never learn anything about the person. One of the best. RIP
I read about that interview with Rod Hull and Emu. Billy Connoly was on the same show Rod Hull caused havoc attacking eveyone with his bloody Emu puppet. Except Connoly who had apparently collared him before the show and said if that bloody bird touches me I'll break its neck and your arm with it.
RIP , the master who set the standard . As Riever said above , he extracted the interesting chat , without the self promotion of books etc
His anecdotes about being on tour with Billy Connolly (when he was drinking) in Australia were hysterical. RIP
RIp Michael. He gave us some memorable moments, a great interviewer who set the standard for his contemporaries.
RIP MP. Went through his life without any bad headlines about him and seemed to be just a nice fella.
And then died in the most ridiculous slapstick way Fell off his roof trying to adjust his TV Ariel to watch a Man U game.
