Is that grey or brown? Not a patch on the away kit. Generally a decent selection this year though I think, even if they’re a bit samey. Like the all white home kit this year though.
I thought it was pink! I don’t mind the blue away kit, just not that keen on the collar. nike haven’t impressed me at all, to be honest. I’ve only bought 1 shirt since we partnered with them, which was the home one from a few years ago with the cockerel in the shield.
Looks like someone accidentally put the away kits in with the home kits in the wash on 80° and a high spin.
Not sure there is the appetite for its own thread, but a decent game from England Women v Australia. Good goals, fierce tackling, the standard is improving. This was a great pen from an earlier game
This women’s England team is special. Lauren Hemp’s best game for England ever today, IMO. Totally unplayable, dominating from start to finish. Brilliant finish from Ella Toone, too. One of those that if mis hit, could have hit the corner flag. even sweeter to see West Ham’s keeper concede 3, too.
Australia didn’t know how to handle her. Too strong, too quick, and never gave up on any opportunity to win the ball. the final will be a very interesting game. Personally, I thought we were lucky to beat Spain in the euro’s, and interestingly enough we didn’t play anyone better after we knocked them out. They will have felt hard done by, and will be wanting revenge on Sunday. But this time we’re without Williamson, Kirby and Mead. won’t be surprised if we get beaten, and see all the vile misogynists out in full force on social media.
I don't really follow women's football, the men's game is already more than enough stress for me. But you can't knock Serina Wiegman's record. Four major tournament finals on the trot with two different countries is bloody impressive. Is there any real reason she or someone of her calibre wouldn't succeed in the men's game? You see chumps like Lampard, Bruce and Hughes continually get high profile jobs...would she honestly do any worse than them?
It will be a very brave chairman who appoints the first full time female coach of a top team, but the credentials of Wiegman or Emma Hayes must surely make it a possibility in the very near future. Maybe the FA should take the lead and offer Serina Gareths job after next summers Euros
honestly mate, elements of the game are so much better than the men’s. No arguing with the ref, little time wasting, and much more player respect. and as a fan at games, far less toxicity. - certainly at international level, anyway. It now just needs more countries to invest in their women’s teams to provide more competition at the top level. and in answer to your question, I have no idea. She’s clearly and elite coach. And when you put it like that with those examples, it’s actually criminal
The authorities foisted enough 2nd and 3rd rate male coaches on the Women's game for years - and still do at club level - and yet the quality of their game has improved exponentially with the increase of female coaches. Might actually be the case that they would also improve the male game as well. Mind you, the FA has still to address the racism that excludes the advancement of black and Asian coaches in the men's game, so there's a snowball in Hells chance of that happening!!
I think, aside from the inevitable backlash of it went wrong, which would far exceed that of appointing one of the usual average male suspects, the problem to be assessed would be commanding the dressing room. Depressingly, we have several examples in the league right now of male players with extremely bad attitudes towards women.
It might be easier for Women to become Directors of Football rather than Managers in the men's game but they should be allowed to show what they can do. Although let's be real, business is never about fairness is it and football produces some very odd results management wise because it's not about knowledge. The credentials of management/ownership is often about how much money you have and who you know. So little different to any other business then.
