I'm in work so only bits. it is what it is. we will have to listen to this win for nearly as long as if England men won something. they are still dining on euros
I, for one, would like to be amongst the first to congratulate Spain for winning the women's world cup.
I don't know why I went and looked and won't do so again because I really have no interest in their football but it popped up on my YouTube recommendations so I clicked to see Bobby's hattrick. From what I could see, every one was offside. Don't suppose they have VAR there and it only showed each goal once. The stadium looked enormous, the crowd noise was horrendous. I'm guessing the standard of football and officiating (if it's possible) is a lot lower.
of course it will be. they have a long history of football though and going to world cups and beating under performing players etc. I'm very sure there's going to be incidents like that and non payment of players etc. I'm very sure a lot of players will get very very very bored.
I can understand a player like Bobby wanting to keep on playing regularly rather than coming off the bench for 15 minutes every other week but it's just such a let down of an end to a career. Who knows, playing in the heat may actually be better for the old muscles and bones. However it isn't the only hot place to play football and I see Messi tearing it up in the MLS, having the time of his life with full interaction with the fans, non-stop scoring and like here, women and children in the crowd. Didn't see a single woman or child in the crowd close ups in Bobby's highlight video. (A Google image search of the Saudi league crowds shows similar).
We thought he was headed for a barca or whatever and wished him well even though we thought he wouldn't play much. now he is over there. The issue with suadi is that its a desert at 31 degrees at night. they will be in air ocn all the way. Messi might be in miami but they are more worried about flooding. they will peak at 35 but it'll be humid as hell but games will be at night in general. hopefully they will all get bored soon . you should not expect to see women nd kids. this is a man's country where men meet and turn their backs on the game while chatting
I don't get this gender stuff. Gender to me is about foreign languages that have a masculine and feminine form for nouns which you can't call sex because that relates to species. It was never been about people until the late 50's when a pervert calling himself a sexologist used the word to describe a human characteristic and the rest, as they say, is history. Society is going to pot along with football.
BREAKING: The Saudi Arabian football association is in talks with UEFA about having a Saudi team in the UEFA Champions League in 2025. [Calcio e Finanza]
What's their excuse? They're not part of UEFA, they can't claim political persecution like Israel does. If theyre in Champions League they have to submit to UEFA authority, including FFP. (As well enforced as it is). UEFA always saying no politics and ban the silliest of things for being political... They'll be fighting the biggest battle if they let SA in. Politics will be nonstop.
