They seem to claim the reason for charging is otherwise the new tunnel will not be used much, as they will be charging for the new tunnel to recoup their costs. So to balance it out, they will charge at both tunnels. However, even if I accept that argument, it raises another question to me. The argument has always been, the reason they continue to charge at the Dartford Crossing is because otherwise more traffic would use that route. Ok, fair enough, but haven't they overlooked that if you charge at both tunnels (old & new), and charge at the Dartford Crossing, it contradicts their previous arguments, because people will have three options, all which will be pay tolls, so it will be a case of go where you want. *note, when I say tunnels I'm refering to Blackwall.
Got my fine through the other day for not paying my Dart charge when I forgot I’d crossed in May. When I clicked the link to pay it just charged me £2.50 rather than the £35 fine.
That's a result for you then. I use to have an account, but I've not got one anymore, because I don't plan on going anywhere near London in a car if I can help it. If you had an account it always froze the price - don't know if that's still the case, worth knowing if you cross on a regular basis. I should add Dartford residents get concessions and some free crossings I think, that only came in recent years, after they refused to remove the charge.
Gym done, trim done and off for a sunbed before a “don’t bring laptops we’re having organised fun” meeting in London followed by QPR reserves losing in the Milk Cup.
They’ll cover the train and I’ve got football after and there’ll probably be a nice lunch though. Just have to avoid killing my marketing team for six hours.
Found this nice spot for early morning swims. Gets busy with sunseekers later in the day. But it’s pretty empty at dawn
