More than happy for you to join me and some mates on the 29th September at Royal Albert Hall…..can’t see Dave Brock lasting much longer at 81 years old. Or Gong/Ozric Tentacles on 18th November
Definitely not comparable to Hawkwind Did a great version of Delilah back in the day. I seem to remember he died quite young.
Hijack with edris Elba Run Don't stop to look back How does **** like this get finance I watched it all so you don't have to
Yeah, they did Delilah live as a joke and the record company released it as a single without telling them and it became a hit. Just watched a documentary where the surviving members said they kind of resented it being seen as a novelty. It isn’t, it’s a proper murder ballad delivered by a bunch of sinister entertainers. Nick Cave is a big fan apparently. Alex died at 45, but he was well into his thirties before he saw any success.
I did Stan..... around 75 at what was the Victoria Palace theatre opposite Victoria Station, that was when their version of delilah was released..... Great fun band.... have 6 or so of their albums, have to start playing them again.... they also realeased a cracking album without Alex Harvey simply called SAHB without Alex...... not sure if that was when he was ill or had recently passed..... Never got the recognition they deserved....
Anyone see The Sixth Commandment on BBC? Just caught it on iPlayer, four episodes. True story about a set of murders in Bucks a few years ago and the subsequent trial...very well written and researched, with a stellar cast the acting is as superb as you'd expect. The firat episode was a slow burner, but after that the case gathers pace until the guilty party is in court. Creepy **** indeed, makes you wonder what goes on in some peoples heads....
Yep watched it all, as you say brilliantly acted and seriously disturbing. One truly evil ****ed up individual, who wasn't quite as clever as he thought ! You all know I love a true crime show
We have just completed watching two seasons of "The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem" (around 37 or so episodes total) set in Jerusalem from the time of the Turkish, then British occupation during WWII with radical Jewish militia groups battling their authority committing terrorist acts. We watched it on Netflix in Hebrew with English subtitles and both really enjoyed the series.
Sounds right up my street....if you enjoyed this, check out Tehran, Israeli undercover Mossad agent in Iran trying to bring down their nuclear program.. two seasons of it so far, think you'll find it on Netflix. Hebrew, Arabic and English with subs
Just watched this, I thought it was a bit slow. It was quite emotional about his dad and I really miss the insight of the legend that is Shane Warne. What Stokes did in The World Cup and The Ashes at Headingly is still something to behold. England's greatest modern day cricketer?
Thanks for the heads up! After watching "The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem", with all the frolicking going on, I have been teasing my partner that she is my Ashkenazi Princess (at least 92% according to our recent DNA testing). I like the Hebrew with English subtitles - hate dubbed movies!
Watched The Covenant last night, by Guy Ritchie. Seen a few of this type of film lately, Afghan interpreter saves Allied soldier from Taliban...this one was quite good if that's your sort of thing. (Kandahar another good one) But.....I'm curious.....if the Taliban are such awful shots as depicted in all these films how the hell did they manage to see off the US and Allied troops? The Allied guys knock off Tali after Tali with single shots all the time, but the Taliban guys couldn't hit a barn door if they tried do they not practice?
