Good point, I noticed how well they both linked up and Wan Bissaka's improved going forward under ETH. Yes very much so about Bruno. I said the same earlier. I still haven't seen him as good as he was in his first 12 months for us. He loses the ball far too much for my liking and it's beginning to get annoying. Having said that, and this happens all the time, he'll play one pass that will lead to a goal... like he did tonight.
I want Amrabat. But I don't know where that leaves the rest of our midfielders - especially Mount. I can even see ETH playing Casemiro, Amrabat and Mount in midfield with Bruno out on the right.
I am kind of wondering where Mount is going to fit in. We seriously need a good energetic DM to go alongside Casimero but as you hint, we are way overloaded with midfielders of many types.
At my age i don't go for the "everyones doing this now" thing. If it worked well last season then do it again but do it better.
It’s ridiculous that we are even having this discussion. If these points are so obvious to regular people, why is the club continuing to bring in players without decent plan of how they will fit in. Early days though. Let’s check back after five games.
Abysmal slack passing. Lack of urgency and tempo. Midfield sliced through like a knife through butter Lack of a true no9 made obvious. Could and probably should have lost the points
Good to see the new 2023/24 match day officiating system kick in - if the referee who is ten feet away doesn't give it and it goes to a VAR guy a hundred miles away looking at TV footage and if he doesn't give it, it would appear that the final say goes to Jon Moss who manages the match day officials who is probably sitting in the directors box with a beer in his hand. FFS, how much more oversight do we need in a game, if the ref and VAR don't give it, then it isn't a foul and Jon Moss can shut the **** up.
Casemiro clearly put some timber on and looked off the pace, that needs addressing. If anything, it's his position under threat by Amrabat, which I didn't think I'd ever be saying. Amrabat way more of a priority than Pavard, who we don't really need. And then McTominay could still yet be sold as this would unnecessarily clutter the midfield options. We should be looking at another centre forward though. Personally, I'd look at Mitrovic as Wolves have essentially replaced him with Jiminez. It was a rusty performance though. All the creativity was off the pace; Garnacho, Fernandes didn't play well, Antony was an outlet who didn't then have an outlet (striker) himself, and Rashford was poor. If we don't get a back up striker, Rashford needs to quickly get his head round the idea that he's the stand in striker if Hojlund is injured/rested.
I think that Amadou Onana will be a better fit than Amrabat given he has shown that he has the pace to keep up in the league and the technical passing chops to match.
