Got to sign one. No idea who though. A mad last minute snatch of Toney would be a very good idea I'd say.
I read yesterday Inter were signing Arnautovic and thought he would've been good. Also felt similar about Jiminez before he went to Fulham a month ago.
I haven't seen much of Bruno's influence in this game. It is as though his play in that first half was diminished by Mount's who isn't having much of a game either in that jointed midfield line.
I wouldn't be surprised if he takes off Mount and brings on McTominay just to control the midfield with Casemiro.
Bruno needs to seriously up his game ffs. Wolves look like they're tiring when we have possession. Eriksen and Sancho coming on. Think that's the right move.
Can we sell Antony this window and try something weird, like getting a right-footed right winger........every ****ing time he stops to move the ball onto his left, rinse and repeat.
That's us up to 7th spot behind Fulham - we're in the mix with a better start than last season (if you can call it that)
We wouldn’t even get £40m for him. I still find it unbelievable that we persist with a very predictable winger that is so badly limited with the wrong foot on the wrong side of the pitch. It’s either you play him on the left or leave him on the bench. This setup today in the midfield will frustrate most strikers because it doesn’t yield clear cut chances. At least we got the win and a clean sheet. But that starting lineup can’t be the one.
We've paid £72m for a striker who will only receive decent deliveries from the left side of our attack - Garnacho or Rashford, Antony needs to turn into Ronaldo very quickly and start delivering for the team - the odd goal here and there doesn't cut it.
Actually when you look at the way he curls the ball in at pace from the right (usually when he's going for goal) he'd be great at crossing the ball into the box if he played on the left.
The manager will need to change that midfield setup. And can anyone really say that Mount is better than Fred?
I don't think the major problem was out wide tbh. It was a non-existent midfield with Casemiro isolated. And no striker. Get that right and our wingers will be fine.
He’s a one trick pony though. It’s of no use when you need to produce opportunities against the run of play when you’re breaking from the right hand side. Pellistri is a far better option. ETH is being extremely stubborn to continue to play him there. Play Pellistri instead or better, let Sancho settle into the side on the right.
He didn't have a great game but honestly, who did? It's one game mate. I'll state the positives for Antony tonight - he's physically strong in possession out wide. he's able to turn a fullback which he did a few times and this created an open pitch in front of him to run. his workrate and tracking back was and always is excellent. I say give him time under ETH and with a proper CF.
Treble, this is his fourth season with ETH. I really don’t see what you see in him beyond what he is. He is absolutely not a Manchester United grade starting player. Constantly, the right side of the pitch is that way game after game with limited crosses and very scant penetration down the flank. I have said before that simply buying a striker won’t even solve our problems if that midfield stays the way it is. The counter argument that others have made is that with a target man we would play differently to create chances for the central man. I don’t see it! I think that argument is a bit of a chicken before the egg. Unless if we get a versatile frontman that will hold up play and get others around him involved. Hopefully Hojlund can be that man.
Another postive is he works really well with Wan Bissaka both going forward and defensively. Bissaka's forward play has improved greatly inder ETH and i even had him as a MoM contender for us tonight. Bruno on the other hand needs to buck up fast, i would have had him off after 30 mins (captain indeed).
