Some daft lads in Sheffield. Commentator needs a trip to Spec Savers. Seems to think Josh W. scored a winner at Wembley.<laugh> In this case "Absence of evidence IS evidence of absence" :emoticon-0105-wink:

Wondered what had happened to Brian Laws!

Oh, and Josh Windass scored Wednesday’s play-off final winner last May.

<doh> Cheers. I seem to have maligned the commentator then.

    Yorkshire Post player ratings...

Ingram: No chance with Owls goal. Quiet afternoon, really. 6

Coyle: Saw a lot of the ball down the right and was a marauding raider. 8

Jones: Almost nodded into his own net in second half. A rare alarm. 7

McLoughlin: Unwitting part in Owls’ opener, with Delgado’s effort taking a significant deflection off him. 6

Greaves: Hit the deck ahead of Hull’s leveller and copped a blood injury. Changed his shirt and cracked on. A strong presence. 7

Slater: Picked the pocket of Bannan early and set the tone. The boyhood Blade was up for it, clearly. Influential. 8

Seri: Provided the platform for those further forward to make hay. 7

Lokilo: Rewarded for his vibrant debut in the week with his league bow. Had a lot of the ball, mixed bag at times, but this will further do his confidence good. 7

Tufan: Excellent penalty put City on terms and it was his show on the restart. Sublime strike put City 2-1 up and a very assured shot saw him secure the matchball. Moments of real class. 9

Traore: Nice and bright and really enjoyed it in the second half. Assist for the third. 8

Delap: Grafted tirelessly without reward for the team. But his effort was appreciated by Rosenior, when he came off. 7

    They gave all Wednesday's players a 6, other than Delgado a 6 and the back-pass bloke a 4.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us shift to a back four of Vinagre, Greaves, Sean, Jones. When that becomes a 3 in possession, it would allow Vinagre to push really high utilising his main strengths. Only slight question mark would be Jones getting exposed at right back when defending (see Sunderland away)

History would suggest Coyle won’t be available for 46 games a season. Would also like to see how he performs when not given the freedom of Hull

What about some sort of 352. Why would we be against this. More bodies in the middle.

Hopefully Christie gets back to form as he's better than Coyle (as much as I like Coyle)

At times, we looked like Guardiola’s 3-2-4-1 in possession. A lot of possession-based teams are doing this now. On paper, team sheets look like a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 but in possession it’s a lot more fluid. One of my criticisms of how we played against Donny, Norwich and in pre-season is how rigid the formation looked. Against Wednesday, it was a lot more fluid.

In possession, we looked a lot like this:

    Ingram
    A. Jones - McLoughlin - Greaves
    Slater - Seri
    Coyle - Traoré - Tufan - Lokilo
    Delap

It looked a lot like how Guardiola sets up Man City these days in possession. I think it suits us when Greaves plays left-back as he can tuck inside as the left-sided centre-half in a back three in possession and the right-back, in this case Coyle, essentially becomes a right-mid. I don’t think it would work with Vinagré at left back as he’s the type of wing-back to overlap and get forward.

I think Vinagre would work if Jones started as a right back.

    Ingram
    A. Jones - McLoughlin - Greaves
    Slater - Seri
Winger - Traoré- Tufan - Vinagre
    Delap

Or probably strongest on paper involves Christie, as he himself says his best position is in the right of a back 3

    Ingram
    Christie - Jones - Greaves
    Slater - Seri
Winger - Traoré- Tufan - Vinagre
    Delap

Tufan gets his just reward from both the local papers. Thanks for posting that I should take a look at the Yorkshire post (as long as no subscription needed- I have too many of them) seems overall good judgement by their reporter.

both goals came down our left side - Greaves had pushed too far up then didn't get back for the first and an exact ditto for the second - totally out of position and not quick enough to get back - if Rosie wants him to push up he needs to get someone to cover for him

Apologies if it's already been noted but was anyone else reminded of Diame's goal by Tufan's second. Slater in the Snodgrass role advances then lays it of to the side for a worldie from outside the box.
