I think it would've been better if they'd increased it to 5 teams where they have but got rid of some of the league winners from the ****e leagues. Those fixtures are always duds, guaranteed 6 points and a complete waste of time. This way you don't need to increase the groups or the games, and the quality of games in the group stages would be better.
It's just more messing about with the game, it seems the people who run things are intent on complicating everything.
I think the expectation is that we're usually going to have a top 5 from the Prem playing in the Champions League. If we're polite and include Tottenham that means 5 from 7, I'd have mentioned Villa but after Saturday I'm not sure I should. I think 2nd to 8th is hard to predict but would have Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool as likely 2-4 and then us, Chelsea, Tottenham, Villa and Brighton down to 9th. Tight season ahead.
No I think Chelsea and Newcastle will be in the mix. First and foremost you need good home form to challenge for Top 4 and Newcastle will have that. And there's enough there to pick up the extra points away so you'll be in there as well.
Mentioning Mo... Wouldn't it be just the Saudi thing to do to pick up on the back of his mini strop yesterday, offer a massive deal to him, and a fee that Liverpool (sorry, FSG) couldn't refuse. Jurgen would love that. Especially after his gurning about Saudi transfer windows being longer than ours.
Looks like United are after Amadou Onana from Everton ... gonna get in first with the chant before Matth... One Onana, two Onana, three Onana four ... would simplify the teamsheet if we got a couple more
Would be funny if Liverpool came in for him, only for him to decide it’s Brighton that he has his heart set on joining.
All the Saudi's need to do is promise Mo they won't sub him in the last 15 mins (along with £100m a year) and he's there imo. Kloppy will only have himself to blame.
Mo knows what this means going forward when things aren’t going well up top then Mo comes off Mo money Mo problems
He also tends to hide in big games, and it's pretty obvious he's shying away from possession and responsibility. He's great in league cup games and against the likes of Bournemouth. Appreciate he's still young, but he will never make it to the required level. Fred was the better player, we should have kept him and got more money for McTominay instead. Not the same position exactly of course, but Fred is useful with better then McTominay alongside him. McTominay may well make a useful sub, he'll never be 1st eleven, but Fred needs to be actually replaced. Which is where Amrabat should come in.
And Nunez comes on in your place It's gotta be the ultimate slap in the face that, being replaced by a donkey.
It does seem strange we were getting double for McTominay than Fred but sold Fred. If we needed the money for purchases personally I'd have sold both tbh. Bring in Amrabat that's enough, and give the likes of Mejbri a chance if needed.
